Blizzard franchises get their own Twitter accounts
We recently learned of a quiet little announcement that Blizzard's three hot properties now each have Twitter accounts of their own. If you use Twitter, you can now follow @warcraft, @starcraft, and @diablo.All three accounts are pretty bare at the moment aside from some catchphrases, but I'm going to bet the accounts will be used as another miniature news outlet, much like the front pages of their respective websites. It's probably also safe to say we'll be seeing a lot of product and tournament plugs, too. If you're a Twitter fiend, you might want to click that follow button for them (and our account, too). If you don't normally use Twitter, it's too early to say if these accounts are anything you should go out of your way to check out. If there's any major WoW news showing up there, it will find its way here too. Your life probably won't end if you don't follow them. Probably.

Their background makes a good wallpaper for 1920x1200 monitors :)

Hmm...
A Warcraft account, but not a WoW account?
(Trolls the escapist forums)
LOL, don't give the people any more expansions.
We want Warcraft VI!!!

What happened to IV and V?

Oh GREAT, more people to follow who won't follow me back!
Seriously though, I'm also intrigued by the fact that there's a "Warcraft" account, but not a "World of Warcraft" account, and apparently no official "Blizzard" account either for corporate news and updates. Looks like they're pretty clear about their properties and how they want to communicate with us about them.

True, it says Warcraft and not World of Warcraft, but the link in the biography goes to www.worldofwarcraft.com . . .

There's an account for each franchise. How is this strange?

World of Warcraft is a game, not a franchise. I fail to understand how people don't realise this?
mibluvr13 Aug 14th 2009 11:42AM
I disagree. I consider all of the Warcraft games connected. >.>

Hmmm... A twitter account for each franchise launches just a week before Blizzcon. This could be the easiest way to track what's happening, or know where to be and when.

What's Twitter?
(ducks the onslaught of tossed shoes and runs away)

I can see why they didn't make a Blizzard Twitter account. Could you imagine all the complaints they'd have for the influx? They'd be the one source stop for complaint department, suggestions, flixing glitches, realms down, GM surveys and the like. I think we're possibly looking at server crashes for Twitter from now on, now that they're on there (ironic, wouldn't it be, that the owners of Blizz personal twitter accts not being able to log in? ROFLMAO)
Get ready to see, "Too many tweets, try again later," more often now! lol (well, after all, 6+million people playing Warcraft, I'm sure some of them would find themselves creating Twitter accounts from this point on)
Helpful hint to Twitter: Upgrade you hardward. You may need it!

I'm actually surprised that none of those were already taken.
