Love the acheivements system overall, since it gives me something to work on after I got my main geared up - since I don't enjoy raiding that much (did some casually but my guild died before Ulduar came and didnt want to find another guild), it's easy to run out of options after getting geared out of heroics, so acheivements has given me plenty other things to focus on. Currently working on "the Insane" title, although i think it'll take a while yet, but it's really nice to have big goals like that.
The downside is of course the many groups that require the acheivement for any instance, thus preventing you from getting said acheivement if you're not in a raiding guild. I guess I'm lucky as a healer, as sitting in the LFG tool flagged as a healer will often get me into a group without being asked to link my acheivement, but that doesn't help my alts.
Would indeed be nice to make dungeon acheivements account-wide, but even nicer if people would just have an attitude change and realise that people can be perfectly capable players without having done that instance on that particular character. Plus a lot of people who do have the acheivement may be complete idiots who were just dragged through anyway...
