As have been mentioned here before: Achievements are "permanent" while epics quickly are replaced by others. Achievements have also become the new "e-peen", since the epics can be picked up in so many other (and "not-so-leet") ways.

Achievements are driving me to play more on my main character than anything else have done before in this game. I used to play several alts, and still do, but these days I put more effort into my main, just to collect those oh-so-precious achievements.
