The Queue: Simple things
Welcome back to The Queue, WoW.com's daily Q&A column where the WoW.com team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.
Today is a day of, apparently, quick questions and quick answers. Most of the questions asked were fairly straightforward and not particularly involved. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is really up to you, but it is what it is: simple. I planned to embed a cartoon at the top of this video, but the aspect ratio made it gigantic if I used our standard width, so there's a link instead.
whalt asked...
"Any idea if prior season PvP weapons will ever be available from honor/arena points and not require an arena rating like the old Glad weapons were back in BC?"
I don't think we've heard anything about this, so I think you'll need to wait for Blizzard commentary on that over on the official forums. If I had to guess, if they haven't been doing it for previous seasons, they won't do it for this one. Seems they like the weapons being a little more "out of reach" during this expansion.
Soryne asked...
"...What IS attack power? I cannot find an answer anywhere."
I don't think the comments section yesterday linked Wowwiki nearly enough, so here's a link! A very, very basic explanation of the stat is that it makes melee physical attacks hit harder. Follow the Wowwiki link for a more detailed explanation.
mrs_carth_onasi asked...
"Why is Lady Sylvanas's new voice less menacing and more cute? It really is awful. I want the old voice over back!"
If I had to guess, I'd say they changed her voice in Undercity because they're doing additional voice work for her later on in the expansion. If they couldn't get her original voice actor back to do the new lines, they would go back with the new voice actor to make the old lines match the new ones. It's unfortunate, because Sylvanas's old voice actor was pretty awesome. There's something to be said for consistency though.
peagle asked...
"How about any word on fixing Tuesday lag on XT-002? Every Tuesday same wretched lag during hard mode..."
I have never experienced this, so I wouldn't even know where to look on comments about it. Readers, have you experienced this?
Chaosclaws asked...
"When a person gets to the "last" boss in ToC, they discover that the Black Knight has crashed the party. If he didn't "crash" it, who would have the final boss in ToC? I was thinking that maybe the Death Knight champion might have been the final boss due to the fact we don't fight any DKs for dailies or even in the first fight in ToC. I think also because it could be a "lets practice fighting an old Lich King minion for experience."
Eadric and/or Paletress was the last challenge. After you beat them, those in charge of the Trial start to congratulate you on winning, and are about to send you on your way. That was it. Two rounds, good game, you win, go home. The Black Knight showing up extends it. If he didn't show up, that would have been the end of it.
Briory asked...
"Has there been any word on when the faction changes will be available?"
None. And there were a lot of other faction change questions for this edition of The Queue as well, but I'll hit them all at the same time as this one: We cannot answer most of them until Blizzard opens the service up to the public or posts a more in-depth Q&A on it. The WoW.com team doesn't know any more about that particular service than what Blizzard has already told us, and that isn't much.

Probably best to keep to your imagination on that one.. avoid the disapointment when it turns out to be Harry Shearer.

Any idea as to why Blizzard won't make any comments about the Additional instances cannot be launched issue? There is a thread on the forums that has nearly 4,000 posts and nobody has given any updates.
Falcom Aug 13th 2009 7:46PM
Probably because there are no updates to give.

WE WON'T BE SATISFIED UNTIL THE BLUES JUST REPEAT THEMSELVES IN A LOOP UNTIL IT'S FIXED

If theres gonna be 31 bosses in IC, i rly expect ..
Arthus
Magic Dragon
Saurfang and bolvar ( if Blizz wanna heat up the Ally- Horde conflict, it will be Allys vs Saurfang and Hordes vs Bolvar, that way, Horde and Ally are pissed because the others killed thier Champion.
Probally Anu Barak, ( ToGC was merely a setback)
Maybe Kel Thuzad ( cause Naxx was only a Setback)
i dunno, but blizz can make up a hell lot of scourge, even a part when Allys and Hordes fight eachother ( like in Nexus)
Gnosh Aug 14th 2009 9:29AM
There aren't. GC clarified that he was kidding, like he was when he set the PTR Yogg Speedkill achievement to 22 minutes.

I can't wait for faction changes. Despite all the fast leveling, I don't feel like making a new character when I can just use the Alliance characters that have been collecting dust. :D
I also agree on Sylvanas' voice. It's not as good as the old one, but I guess we're stuck with it. I think the best voice in WoTLK is Keristrasza from The Nexus, but that's just me.

QUESTION SUGGESTION:
As I was gleefully killing Tauren in Dustwallow Marsh (BTW, can a marsh even be dusty?) last night I began to wonder why there are no "evil" night elves? Or, if I just haven't stumbled upon them, where are they? I mean I know about Illidan Stormrage and a few others affected by demons and what-not, but where are the renegade night elf camps when I'm leveling, for both Horde and Alliance to kill? Am I supposed to believe that the only evil night elves have Naga, Satyr, or changed skin color to Blood Elves? As alliance I regularly kill evil dwarfs, gnomes, draenei, and tons of evil humans throughout the leveling experience. Where are the evil Night Elves?
Gnosh Aug 14th 2009 9:32AM
Well. There's an entire kingdom of Dwarves that hate everyone, unlike the night elves, who were mainly unified under one banner in northern Kalimdor.
Occasionally you'll see a Night Elf in with pirates, or whatever, but there's no organized group of "evil" night elves.
...Unless you count the Alliance.

What about the Highborne? Not all of them accepted their exile in the Eastern Kingdoms to become today's High/Blood Elves.
The Shen'dralar already were in Classic, though they were not exactly "evil", but rather neutral. Then again their prince was rather corrupted.
And, this just in, 3.2.2 will introduce an Alliance equivalent to An Injured Colleague, hinting at a return of Highbornes to Night Elf society (or at least this one guy)

I understand the bit about High/Blood Elves and the Satyr but they are so far removed that they look different. I'm looking for Night Elves that an alliance player can kill that look like the night elves you can roll.
Where are these pirate Night Elves? I've only seen Tauren, Gnoll, Goblin, Human, Dwarf, Gnome, Orc, undead-ish, and Troll pirates as I can recall, can you tell me where to go on the map?

I found some! Firewatch Ridge in Searing Gorge in the Twilight gang! Problem solved. =D

How about the Druids of The Sun no news??

Here's a slightly lore based raid question. In the midst of Icecrown being the last raid for this expansion and the cataclysm being the main part of the next...where does Deathwing fit in? As one of the biggest and oldest of the big bads in WoW, it seems we have heard suprisingly little about him. We know he is in the depths of Grim Batol with yet another earth conquering plot, but besides that...nothing. He is obviously a big part of the WoW story, and, considering we have killed most of his flight, and he is trying to kill us, is set up as a huge raid boss. So, TLDR: when and how will we see Deathwing pop up again? Main part of the next xpac? Random side raid?bad boy turned hero? I'm dying to get his phat epicz
Nizari Aug 13th 2009 10:44PM
When 3.3 drops, do you think they'll change up emblems like they did for 3.2? Every raid and heroic below Icecrown Citadel will start dropping emblems of triumph?
Anaughtybear Aug 14th 2009 12:23AM
It really is TotC or TC, not ToC. You can't just arbitrarily decide you like the word 'of' and not 'the'. I don't know what genius came up with this acronym, but he should be hit in the face with his own bucket of fail.
Asahunt Aug 14th 2009 12:31AM
Why have I not seen the Paletress although I've run H ToC every day since patch day and regular ToC many of those days? I suspect I've run it about 13 times. Which by my math is a 1/8192 chance. What's going on here?
Sinthar Aug 14th 2009 10:18AM
Congratulations on being player no 8193
Keep going im sure it will change sooner or later for you
Hubert Aug 14th 2009 4:35AM
OK I have one question: is gear that increases spell power useful for a death knight?
