Possible new race/class combinations datamined
Here's another whopper from Handclaw at Scrolls of Lore, who first uncovered the goblin and worgen masks a month ago.
You may remember the quest added to Thunder Bluff recently, where two druids talk about the merits of following the Sun instead of the Moon. Well, on the 3.2.2 PTR, another new quest has been added, this time to Darnassus, where a Highborne mage asks for an audience with Tyrande to offer his services as a mage.
While many speculated that the Thunder Bluff quest indicated a new class, they may be more correct than they think.
In the Patch 3.2.2 PTR files, a number of new race/class combination NPCs were discovered. The data mined from MMO-Champion seems to indicate that several races will have the ability to roll classes previously unavailable to them. Unlike our confirmed addition of the new races, it is only speculation that these combinations will be playable, but with the addition of the class-related quests with each additional patch, it seems quite likely.
The current list of these combinations is after the jump. Several races should prepare to jump for joy.
- Human Hunter
- Orc Mage
- Night Elf Mage
- Blood Elf Warrior
- Dwarf Shaman
- Dwarf Mage
- Undead Hunter
- Tauren Paladin
- Tauren Priest
- Gnome Priest
- Troll Druid
Yes, that's right. Another shaman for the Alliance, another paladin for the Horde side, two more hunters, another druid for the Horde, a gnome healing class, the triumphant return of the lost-to-vanilla-beta dwarf mage, the advent of blood elf warriors...
If this turns out to be something Blizzard is adding with Cataclysm, the amount of rerollers on top of those playing the new races will be truly staggering. Now where's my other Alliance druid, Blizzard?
2n - 1 go left, 2n go right. I don't see enough DoTs! More DoTs now! Are you ready for the return of Onyxia? With the Brood Mother being revitalized as a 10 and 25 person raid, you'll need to be sure you know everything that's coming at you. WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.2.2 will make sure your set for the next patch!

wow!
Drow Aug 14th 2009 7:38PM
Wow?
It makes total sense!
Think about it, the Highborne are making an appearance in Darn, so the mage seems right, and Tauren Pally? Yeah, notice the speech they have about the light and not being night creatures?

I prefer to see the word mom as an upside down wow. MOM!
fearthefireblade Aug 14th 2009 8:10PM
Woah...
I mean, wow.

@ Albrechtae
Amusingly enough, I also see it that way. Mostly because my mom once made me a birthday card by hand that said "WOW" on the front, but it got handed to me upside-down, so I was briefly confused why my birthday card said "MOM". lol

If a Dwarf shaman, and troll druid comes out I'm seriously, no joke, hands down, quieting wow.

What if these aren't classes that we'll be able to outright roll,
making them common place, but rather the choices presented to you
when you use the paid faction swap.
Lorewise Blizz has shown that any race can be any class, just some
combination are rarer than others...ie Tauren Paladins.
What if a dwarf paladin wants to faction switch to horde and the only
choice they have at their disposal is a tauren paladin? It would make
sense and maintain the rarity Blizz said is there for that particular
combination.

I was going to post a really long comment about how I didn't like all the speculation posted on this blog, and how I would like to see only news that were confirmed by Blizz, but I scratched it all up, and made this simple post.
To all the people: Don't get too excited, it's only speculation, not stuff confirmed by blizzard. No matter what hints are put into new patches, it may not clearly indicate that a certain thing is going to happen. Blizzard knows there are people datamining their PTR builds, and they certainly love to tease us (hehe), so don't believe everything you hear (read).
Final thoughts: I would really love to see the sources behind Adam's statement: "Our sources have told us that the new races of Cataclysm will be: ....", otherwise I'm not goint to believe that post :P (evil face and exit from the stage)

The extra druid race for horde (troll) will be balanced by worgen druids on alliance side. It is confirmed... by my speculation.

Holy cow! WoW! I leave on vacation for a few days and this is what I come back to find!
As long as they back it up darn well with the lore I'm really indifferent. I love my Draenei Shaman and won't be rerolling anytime soon.

seriously, why was Chris256's comment rated down?? CLEARLY, it's his choice if he wants to mute the sound when he plays wow
