Possible new race/class combinations datamined
Here's another whopper from Handclaw at Scrolls of Lore, who first uncovered the goblin and worgen masks a month ago.
You may remember the quest added to Thunder Bluff recently, where two druids talk about the merits of following the Sun instead of the Moon. Well, on the 3.2.2 PTR, another new quest has been added, this time to Darnassus, where a Highborne mage asks for an audience with Tyrande to offer his services as a mage.
While many speculated that the Thunder Bluff quest indicated a new class, they may be more correct than they think.
In the Patch 3.2.2 PTR files, a number of new race/class combination NPCs were discovered. The data mined from MMO-Champion seems to indicate that several races will have the ability to roll classes previously unavailable to them. Unlike our confirmed addition of the new races, it is only speculation that these combinations will be playable, but with the addition of the class-related quests with each additional patch, it seems quite likely.
The current list of these combinations is after the jump. Several races should prepare to jump for joy.
- Human Hunter
- Orc Mage
- Night Elf Mage
- Blood Elf Warrior
- Dwarf Shaman
- Dwarf Mage
- Undead Hunter
- Tauren Paladin
- Tauren Priest
- Gnome Priest
- Troll Druid
Yes, that's right. Another shaman for the Alliance, another paladin for the Horde side, two more hunters, another druid for the Horde, a gnome healing class, the triumphant return of the lost-to-vanilla-beta dwarf mage, the advent of blood elf warriors...
If this turns out to be something Blizzard is adding with Cataclysm, the amount of rerollers on top of those playing the new races will be truly staggering. Now where's my other Alliance druid, Blizzard?
2n - 1 go left, 2n go right. I don't see enough DoTs! More DoTs now! Are you ready for the return of Onyxia? With the Brood Mother being revitalized as a 10 and 25 person raid, you'll need to be sure you know everything that's coming at you. WoW.com's Guide to Patch 3.2.2 will make sure your set for the next patch!

Makes sense.. what with all the other things they've opened up such as cross faction transfers etc etc, it makes sense that they'd open up every class to every race.
rosencratz Aug 14th 2009 7:56PM
Assuming the article ends up being true it still doesn't say all classes are being opened up to all races. Just some.
Romance Aug 14th 2009 7:12PM
This is so highly unlikey.
I mean really?
Undead hunter? How are they suppose to track?
By smell? Do they even have a nose?
And what is Dwarves relation to the Elements? (Shaman).
And the crown jewel of unlikely retardness:
Tauren Paladin.
But on the flippside:
Yay for Orc & Nelf Mages!
Ebylon Aug 14th 2009 7:16PM
As opposed to 'The Light' having Tauren Priests and Paladins might make them the 'Sun' worshipping sects of the race, hinted at with the little quest/conversation added in 3.2.
Seems more reasonable to me than them modifying Tauren Druid abilities to be diff than Night Elves.
sephirah Aug 14th 2009 7:25PM
No idea, but you could ask to some undead ranger, like Sylvanas Windrunner.
Snark Aug 14th 2009 7:27PM
Undead because they used to be human, I guess.
Dwarf I can see as far as being of the earth. Not too far a leap for the other elements as they're all connected in the end anyway.
Tauren priest/paladin because they start worshiping the sun/light.

"And what is Dwarves relation to the Elements? (Shaman)."
Dwarves came directly from the Earth(see the Earthen). They're more connected to the Earth and its elements than a bunch of cows.

"And what is Dwarves relation to the Elements? (Shaman)."
Dwarves actually came from the Earth(their predecessors, the Earthen), they have a stronger connection to the earth and elements than a bunch of cows.

Lovely how I'm trying to reply to Romance, but it's showing as replies to morkuma.
Kayri Aug 14th 2009 8:07PM
Bet you didn't know the Wildhammer dwarves are known for shamanism?
Nick Aug 14th 2009 8:25PM
I agree. And Undead Hunter? I wonder what'll happen if you get a wolf pet...
Dog runs up to Bones and starts panting.
[Bones] says: Awww look! A doggy! I'm gonna name you fluffy!
[Fluffy] says: Woof! Woof!
Fluffy jumps on Bones.
[Bones] says: Okay! That's enough, good boy! Hey... what are you doing with my arm?
Fluffy runs away with Bones' arm.
[Bones] yells: HEY! BAD DOG! GIVE ME BACK MY ARM!
Yeaaah... Undead Hunter not gonna happen.
Tyras Aug 14th 2009 8:53PM
It's like you don't know how hunters track in real life...
By TRACKS left behind, such is TRACKING.
Go do Ulduar, infact, go to Storm Peaks, you'll learn everything about Dwarves. Infact, don't post in this unless you know things.
Go do the current quest you get in Dalaran, you'll learn what people mean about the Holy Cow stuff.
Go Learn, Go Embrace, Go Lore.
jesper_k_93 Aug 14th 2009 9:34PM
Probably in the same way every other hunterclass track things
zweitblom Aug 15th 2009 1:24AM
Tell that to Nathanos Blightcaller (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=11878) IF YOU DARE! Seriously, some people don't know squat about the game they are playing...
Suzaku Aug 15th 2009 9:40AM
Undead hunter? Ever heard of Nathanos Blightcaller, or Sylvanas Windrunner? If a human can be a hunter, so can undead. Undead are just undead humans.
Dwarves have plenty of connections to the elements. The Dark Iron Dwarves summoned Ragnaros, for God's sake. And the Wildhammer Dwarves have been known shamans for ages (many people have long requested Wildhammer Dwarves to allow playable shamans).
