PTR Patch 3.2.2: New pets and mounts revealed
Once again, our friend Boubouille over at MMO Champion has been a busy boy. With the surprise announcement that the PTRs were up for the testing of the WoW Anniversary Patch (aka patch 3.2.2), he's been digging deep into the patch files and guess what he found?
Well the big news is aptly summed up in the image above. Yes, it's the Onyxia mount (though not actually the Broodmother herself). A picture really does say a thousand words, doesn't it? However that's not all he's found by datamining. There are yet more mounts, including a Spectral Tiger cub! I suspect this little cub may well be from a future TCG expansion. After all, where did this little guy's parent come from? Ditto the rather awesome Tuskarr kite.
On top of that there are some regular mounts in the form of a Little White Stallion and yet another dino-centric mount, this time a Little Ivory Raptor. Boubouille also found the Onyxia Whelping, which is the pet everyone who logs in during November will recieve (think the Blizzard Bear). Ain't it a cutie?
However the oddest thing he uncovered was a collection of Mohawk themed spells. These relate to the now memorable TV advert in which Mr. T creates his own class, the infamous Night Elf Mohawk. From the spell descriptions, I can't help thinking this is not some hint towards a new class in the next expansion but, rather, will be some kind of NPC or quest-related summonable pet. Either way, it sounds awesome.

I'm calling it now. The mohawk-themed spells were put in just to mess with dataminers.

^THAT was exactly what I was going to say. But who really knows. Also, that Ony mount is awesome and the white raptor is too, too bad it is a slow mount :(.

Agreed. Pretty funny though.

That's my thought too. Blizzard just likes to toy with them at this point, seeing what they can stir up.
I wonder how long until there's speculation on the Mohawk class and what role they'll fufill?

Actually, the 3.2.2 patch is supposed to coincide with the 5th year, a date in November. Blizzard has said WoW will get a 'Thanksgiving-like' Holiday...Mohawks, Thanksgiving...I think it's part of the holiday.
micgillam Aug 14th 2009 3:06PM
I doubt it. They don't call it Thanksgiving, Halloween, Valentine's Day in-game, so why use Mohawk. Furthermore, if you were going to associate a real tribe with your Thanksgiving-like holiday Wampanoag would be a far more logical choice.
Somebody Someone Aug 14th 2009 3:41PM
Actually, they might not use 'Valentine', but they use love, hearts, candy, etc...they don't use Halloween, but they use trick-or-treating, the headless horseman, even candy corn. Also, this is a visual game - valentine = heart, Halloween = jack-o-lantern, winter's veil = Christmas tree...'Mohawk' isn't the tribe, it's the hairstyle.
It would probably help if my whole post was read...I said 'Thanksgiving-like', not calling it Thanksgiving. Mohawks(plural, as the tribe is Mohawk, in singular) not Mohawk as no tribe is being associated to an event - Blizzard would probably be sued for that one:)
Check out http://www.wowhead.com/?achievement=3656 if you think I'm wrong on info for 'my' little Thanksgiving-like event :)

I predict
MANY WHELPS!
in Ironforge.

Hmmm I hope that's not the final look of the pet, it looks to be exactly the same model as the Dark Whelpling.... which would make sense as those whelplings are Onyxia's children as well but... I sorta thought the anniversary pet would have a different look.
Compare with http://warcraftpets.com/wow.pets/mythical/dragon.whelps/dark_whelpling.asp
raptorgsus Aug 14th 2009 2:38PM
Yeah it has the exact same skin as the dark whelpling. Hopefully, they make a more unique skin for it because a 5th anniversary pet should be something special.
eviloutlawstar Aug 14th 2009 4:46PM
I bet there will be an update to the whelpling. It's probably just a placeholder. The Onyxia mount isn't even done yet, so I imagine work on the whelpling is right around the corner.
elstor Aug 15th 2009 9:33AM
If they don't update it no one will want the Dark Whelpling any more
joeltitialii Aug 14th 2009 1:06PM
wow, that's a good looking mount, hope i can get it when the patch is released. :)

I pity the foo who touch my jools!
Bubsa Aug 14th 2009 1:08PM
Little White Stallion?
You mean, Ghostcrawler is actually giving us that pony?
flawless Aug 14th 2009 3:10PM
Giving it to your Argent Squire, yes. They're the mounts the squires used when upgraded with the bridle.
micgillam Aug 14th 2009 1:13PM
Little White Stallion and Little Ivory Raptor.... I don't suppose we're talking about heirloom mounts yet? Been thinking for a while that it would be cool to have them, scaling in speed, with something like +25% for lvls 1-19.
Josin Aug 14th 2009 1:43PM
That could be a neat idea, and would explain the unusual "Little" notation on their names. That, or gnomes are getting scaled-down mounts, which could also be nice.
micgillam Aug 14th 2009 1:53PM
Oooh, little mounts for little people. Count me in.
Lyncis Aug 14th 2009 2:13PM
I'm betting that they're different mounts for your Argent Squire and Gruntling, respectively.
