PTR Patch 3.2.2: New pets and mounts revealed
Once again, our friend Boubouille over at MMO Champion has been a busy boy. With the surprise announcement that the PTRs were up for the testing of the WoW Anniversary Patch (aka patch 3.2.2), he's been digging deep into the patch files and guess what he found?
Well the big news is aptly summed up in the image above. Yes, it's the Onyxia mount (though not actually the Broodmother herself). A picture really does say a thousand words, doesn't it? However that's not all he's found by datamining. There are yet more mounts, including a Spectral Tiger cub! I suspect this little cub may well be from a future TCG expansion. After all, where did this little guy's parent come from? Ditto the rather awesome Tuskarr kite.
On top of that there are some regular mounts in the form of a Little White Stallion and yet another dino-centric mount, this time a Little Ivory Raptor. Boubouille also found the Onyxia Whelping, which is the pet everyone who logs in during November will recieve (think the Blizzard Bear). Ain't it a cutie?
However the oddest thing he uncovered was a collection of Mohawk themed spells. These relate to the now memorable TV advert in which Mr. T creates his own class, the infamous Night Elf Mohawk. From the spell descriptions, I can't help thinking this is not some hint towards a new class in the next expansion but, rather, will be some kind of NPC or quest-related summonable pet. Either way, it sounds awesome.

I think they're definitely heirloom mounts, seeing as how they're based on classic mounts and slower than a normal mount. I'm not sure how useful they are since you can use a normal mount at level 20 now, but whatever.
Volaro Aug 14th 2009 2:55PM
Dont even care if its heirloom or not, I'd die for that ivory raptor.

I give it 1 week before we start hearing of Onyxia mount ninjas.
MacDork Aug 14th 2009 1:20PM
You sir, don't give ninjas enough credit.

Blizz could have a done much better job on the ony whelps. I know it looks just like the ones in the instance but since its for a special occassion they should have made it resemble Onyxia. That would be really cool.

I'd like to say that that is officially the best (thematically) mount for an affliction warlock. I still think the red drake or red proto drake may be better for a destruction lock. I think the runner up would be the headless horsemans mount.

Ghostcrawler FINALLY gave us the damn pony.

Maybe Mr. T DID hack the game!!!
Maybe Mr. T IS pretty handy with a computer!!!
micgillam Aug 14th 2009 1:24PM
Did that ever occur to you, mister condescending director?

Fix the image link to MMO-Champion please.

I do hope the Onyxia Whelpling is a placeholder graphic, as it is almost (if not exactly) the same model as the Dark Whelpling which has been available since Classic.
Given that Onyxia and the associated mount have definite shades of Purple, I think the Whelpling should also.
Luthielle Aug 14th 2009 1:35PM
I'm pretty sure that Onyxia summons whelplings that look just like that pet during her encounter though, so I'm guessing it's not a placeholder. Kinda bummed though, because I was imagining a mini version of Onyxia as well = /
(But let's be honest, I'll get my hands on any mini-pet I can get!)
Donegan Aug 14th 2009 1:47PM
This was my initial thought when I first saw the pet too - "Too much like the Dark Whelpling." But hey, it's another pet. Wonder if they'll add an achievement for having 100 pets.
Snuzzle Aug 14th 2009 3:24PM
Seeing as how the mount says it's a WIP, let's hope the whelp is too.
Yeng Aug 14th 2009 1:31PM
Yeah, that's kinda what I'm guessing.
Kind of like the data-mined Achievement "I've had Worse" that read:
Defeat the Black Knight in 10 minutes while wearing all blue items, before 3 Volcanos erupt, while everyone in the group has at least 1 stack of Spurting Blood and there are no shamans or paladins in the party but before you spend at least 1000 gold in repairs wiping to the Black Knight.
Yeng Aug 14th 2009 1:33PM
That was meant to be a reply to the first post.
ROB13 Aug 14th 2009 2:36PM
I don't know why everyone says "Defeat the Black Knight" when it clearly said "Defeast the Black Knight" >_
Yeng Aug 14th 2009 3:05PM
Because its obviously a typo.
But if it will please you:
"Defeast [sic] the Black Knight in 10 minutes..."
Porky Aug 14th 2009 3:27PM
No, I think it's 'Defeast' on purpose.
I'll bite your legs off! Have at you, pansy!
impurezero Sep 22nd 2009 11:06AM
Haha...they put all that crazy stuff in there, but you claim the usage of "defeast" is obviously a typo?
"Six jokes in one fake achievement, I understand...but seven? Preposterous!" :D
