Whither Quel'Serrar?

On the one hand it would seem very odd to go through the rest of the quest chain for Quel, then take the Unfired Ancient Blade in to level 80 Onyxia to complete The Forging of Quel'Serrar in order to run back to Dire Maul and pick up a 20 level out of date tanking sword, no matter how cool it looks. But since the quest doesn't specify what level she is, it might be possible (It was possible to complete a Naxxramas quest from before TBC launched in the current 25 man Naxxramas). However, unless Ony will continue to drop the sinew, I can't see how folks could possibly complete the epic Hunter quest chain. Does that mean those quests will be gone from the game?
Since I don't play a Hunter and I already have Quel'Serrar, this is all kind of academic to me. But I do wonder: my dearest hope is that they actually update the Quel quests (or make an entirely new one) which allows you to get an updated Quel'Serrar. Perhaps Quel'Zaram? I guess I might as well dream big while I'm at it. Bornakk's post certainly hints very strongly that there will be a successor to Quel dropped from Onyxia.

^This. I am so very, very excited by the return of Onyxia as a level 80 raid. I did it at level 70 before the nerf when she became a shell of her former self, so bad that it takes longer to get to her than to actually kill her. It was so very, very sad. Getting the amulet to get into her lair and then spending a couple of months learning the fight (We are a casual guild and didn't attempt her every week.) showed me what this "endgame raiding" was like. When we finally downed her, the adrenalin rush was incredible.
I got the leaf in June to make Lok'delar. My second-in-command got the leaf last month and did the quest chain to get his bow. One of my other hunters got the leaf this week and completed the chain to get his bow. We all agree that we kind of wish we could have done this when we were 60 because it really would have been a test of our skills. I haven't made the quiver because Azuregos never seems to be around and I don't want to grind blue dragonkin for the sinew.
But I do have to wonder, because people can stop their XP at 60 now, will the original raid still be there for them or are they going to have to find groups willing to take them along? Assuming everything in the instance is raised in level to match 80's, there will be 80 elite dragonkin as the trash mobs. A level 60 is a one-shot to them. Plus, all the whelps will be level 80's, possibly elite as well. If the character makes it through the deep breaths of phase 1, the whelps will one-shot him in Phase 2. It will be impossible to keep a level 60 alive if you're running around trying to keep yourself alive. It would be a huge shame to not have the option of seeing the old girl as a level 60.
Still, it's the talk of my guild at the moment. We have people who want the T2 helm for that gear set so we'll be in there more often over the next few weeks before we go in for the first time in November.

Guys, I wouldn't worry about it - remember the old expression:
"Quel'serrar, serrar...whatever will be, will be"

Within the hour wow.com announced Onyxia's retuning, I dashed to the nearest auction house and bought Foror's Compendium of Dragonslaying--begins the quest chain for Quel'Serrar--for 1000g. If you thought that was expensive, you should have been there the next day.
Two compendiums in the AH, 4k each. =/
On a seperate note, I bought a Sunmote for 6 gold, which used to sell for 2k a piece two years ago.

I would love it if they had a "classic" raid mode for this and Naxx. I think this would be the best way to go. That way everyone gets to keep trying for the classic content like Quel'Serrar and Draconic for Dummies, but you still have the option to run it with a challenge at level 80 as well. It would also keep the vanilla WoW players happy.
With Naxx, I'd like to see a portal to classic Naxx from EPL like they had in the original since you couldn't fly up to it. Maybe the portal would just be a couple mages standing around at Light's Hope now. It would still allow vanilla WoW players to access it and people could also quest for classic loot, and complete the older quests.

I've done prison break so many times my eyes bled. I have Quel Serrar on my warrior, the epic bow & ammo pouch for my hunter. I've gotten countless T2 helms for assorted characters. I'm happy to see them updating her. It would be nice to see her in a lvl 80 40 man raid setting though.

Can't quite remember if this was from a Blizz poster or not but I remember something along the lines of Blizz stating they will never do 40 man raids anymore.
But if they did, they should pick it back up for The Lich King/Arthas and nothing less. It would make the encounter that much more epic IMO.

If you look at the patchnotes, there's a miscellaneous change(you can find it over at nihilum.eu) that lists this:
# Sanctuary - When active, grants the wielder 100 defense rating and 1400 armor for 10 sec.
# Sanctuary - When active, grants the wielder 110 defense rating and 1550 armor for 10 sec.
For those that not only HAVE quel'serrar, but were around to actually USE it, you know that the buff it gives is called sanctuary, and it does the same thing(albeit scaled much lower - 20 def. rating and 300 armor).
My best guess is that it will be Quel'Serrar(maybe Quel'Zaram, as mentioned) with the same model but updated stats, and that it will simply be a part of Ony's loot table.
Another idea is that a new equivalent of 'Foror's Compendium of Dragonslaying' will drop from one of the level 80 instances(albeit rarely) and a new quest chain will exist for the new Quel'Whatever.

On a second account I have a level 60 hunter. Gladly, I have rhok and lok already.

Having started the week tbc launched I really don't care about any of the old world stuff, I've been playing for almost 4 years now and still have never had the urge to go do Onyxia because the gear there is level 60 crap for level 60 players, not level 70 players and not level 80 players, having that gear does not progress your character unless your level 60 and will not be leveling out of the gear. I enjoyed tbc raids while it was the current exp, but now I don't have any need or desire to go back and do any of them even if it's content I did not see. I did all tbc raids except for ssc and finishing tk, but the only reason now to go back is for the phoenix mount out of tk. Now I'm doing the wotlk raids and trying to get through all of them. Really unless the gear in the new ony is level 80 gear and somewhat superior to the gear I have, there is no reason to go there except for the mount.

I believe that the original Onyxia will still reign in the depths of Onyxia's Lair, while the new version of Onyxia will be instanced in Dragonblight. If you have seen the movie from MMO Champions, the new Onyxia mount is displayed outside the large gates at the lava place in Dragonblight. If my mind serves me right, it's directly to the west from the middle of the map.

They actually announced Quel'Serrar at blizzcon and gave a picture of the updated stats
