Preparing for BlizzCon: Costumes
BlizzCon approaches! Preparing for BlizzCon is your regular source for tips on how best to prepare for Blizzard's gaming extravaganza. These helpful hints are particularly suited for convention rookies. But if you are a con veteran, we'd love to hear your advice and wisdom in the comments as well. Many people will be wearing costumes to BlizzCon. If you are one of them, there are a few things you should know:
- If you want to enter the contest, you should enter online by August 17, 2009. Blizzard will accept entries at the con, but only if enough people didn't pre-register.
- They have changed the costume rules a bit. You need to be wearing or holding any props you have.
- If you are bringing your costume for the competition, but not wearing it all day, see an Information Kiosk. There will be no general storage options available.
- What your costume props can include: soft plastic (Nerf?) or air filled weapons, wooden staves that have no metal.
- Your costume cannot include: firearms (even if unloaded and nonfunctional), projectile weapons, edged weapons, bludgeons.
If you are wearing a costume, find a person wearing a WoW.com t-shirt (in the Anaheim Convention Center, not at a restaurant or in traffic) so we can take your picture. Or we'll find you, because we'd love to show how great you look. See you next week!
BlizzCon 2009 is coming up on August 21st and 22nd! We've got all the latest news and information. At BlizzCon, you can play the latest games, meet your guildmates, and ask the developers your questions. Plus, there are some great looking costumes.

Hmmm, cosplay conventions, the closest I'll get to some of those mythical creatures, or as they're usually known, women.
badum pish

That's sad and just plain wrong. On a side note to bad about the costume rules I was hoping to see the creativity that they would come up with, such as the girl who made the turtle mount last year.

If making god awful puns when people are trying to give advice is wrong, I don't want to be right.
Aedilhild Aug 15th 2009 3:18PM
You're punished, Fert.

There was this incredibly attractive woman last year wearing the "Lovely Black Dress" and I can't find pictures of her anywhere.
Ayane Aug 15th 2009 2:51PM
Don't any hot men cosplay?....any?...at all? T_T
Eddy Aug 15th 2009 2:54PM
You'll find those at Yaoicon, darlin'.

No, because we don't have to take desperate measures to scrape the bottom of the barrel in our search for someone who will accept that we're the best they're going to manage. :) It's called "SETTLING down" for a reason. ;)

I wish no one would do this when it isn't Halloween. It makes our whole hobby seem lamer than it has to be.
Nina Aug 16th 2009 12:36AM
I know of some. :) And they're straight too.
Just... they don't cosplay as WoW characters. Just Kamina, Germany, and Akuma...

"If you want to enter the contest, you should enter online by August 17, 2008."
Huh. Looks like nobody will be eligible to participate this year.
Robin Torres Aug 15th 2009 3:24PM
Oooops! Fixed!
Clydtsdk-Rivendare Aug 15th 2009 3:18PM
August 2008?....
Womble Aug 15th 2009 3:46PM
It's all good, Robin.
Womble Aug 15th 2009 3:46PM
Wow, complete reply fail. :(
SuckItTrebek Aug 15th 2009 3:56PM
Damn. They still haven't added in a "no fatties" rule to tight fitting or revealing costuming. I JUST went to optometrist last week, goddamnit.
Wyldecat2002 Aug 16th 2009 4:04AM
I doubt you're a catch either there chubbo.
SuckItTrebek Aug 16th 2009 5:40AM
OHNOES I HAVE BEEN CALLED FAT EVEN THO I AM NOT QQ
Nice try, doesn't change the fact that most of these costumers are wearing a troll costume from the moment they get up in the morning. Me, I'm a rarer catch than Rivendare's mount, and just as distinct. ;)
benedikto Aug 16th 2009 6:26AM
I'd hit that.

So no more giant mechanical turtles!
