Go to your room, Amanda. Gestapo style raiding died when BC went active. Yes, people need to pay attention, but aside from that they do not need the '99 Rules of Proper Raiding, or We'll /GKICK You For Life"
Raiding is a social activity, and too much structure turns it into a military action, with a few unpleasant power-obsessed people giving orders, and draconian and unforgiving penalties for mistakes. Those people who form and thrive under this 'win at all costs' raiding philosophy are actually feeding their desire for personal power, and showing little real interest in the profits of raiding.
Relax...raiding should not become a cold, stratified action, within your guild. I know a guild which has no less than FIVE levels of rank in their raiding structure, all to apportion the 'power' to the members who want most of all to give orders. For those people in a guild like this.../gkick yourself, and go find a guild where laughter is allowed, and 'who died the most' in your Naxx raid is an ongoing subject of humor.
