I've visited this site for a long time now, but never made a comment. After reading this article I had to though. This article was beautifully written, and offers a chance to reflect on the personal and emotional side of the game.
My condolences go out to you and your family, I know how hard it is to lose a loved one, as long as we treasure the memories though their never truly gone.

I, too, have never posted on this site before, but your article was so moving that I wanted to comment. I am very sorry to hear about your loss. Your mother sounds like a wonderful woman who loved life.
Your article did a great job putting the game in perspective of other hobbies and life in general. Beautifully written.

I have not posted before either. And I must agree, I had to after reading this. I hope you and your family do well.
And, darn, i wish the ending paragraph could fit in the worldofwarcraft.com forums signature..
"WoW is not an escape from life, it is a reflection of it. It is a journey we walk with our friends, and a memory we carry with us when we log out and come back to the real world. Make it something that you can remember with a smile, not because you played a game, but because you played it with fun, beauty, and kindness for everyone who played along with you. Any hobby you have can and should be, part of a life worth living."
I love it...
