World of WarCrafts: Masks for BlizzCon, plus favorite WarCrafts

Don't have enough time left to assemble a costume for the BlizzCon costume contest (or maybe it was the fierce competition that Feared you off)? We see you poking around over there for ideas that allow you to dip into the spirit of things -- you know, something that doesn't require blue makeup, showing your belly button or spending the next 72 hours with pins, glue and an X-acto knife at the kitchen table ...
Dear cosplay casual, we have your backs (or in this case, your fronts): a mask of one of the new races to be announced at BlizzCon, from Shelbi of The Bronze Kettle. Shelbi (a World of WarCrafts alum and former columnist, herself) dropped us a line to let us know that she's posted a how-to for masking yourself as one of the races of the moment [Spoilers]. This one's as quick, easy and good-looking as they come, so click over to Shelbi's complete instructions and face up to this heady way to look like one of the in crowd at BlizzCon.
After the break, we'll include a spoilerific picture of the front of the new masks (SPOILER ALERT: don't click onward if you don't want to see which race the gorgeous sample represents!), plus we'll announce the World of WarCrafts crafters who've been selected for an upcoming geek crafts book from Chronicle Books.

Gift of the Embalmer tote selected for upcoming bookSpeaking of Shelbi at The Bronze Kettle, Shelbi's Gift of the Embalmer tote toted away the chance to represent WoW.com's World of WarCrafts in an upcoming book on geek crafts to be published by Chronicle Books. The book is a collection of 25 original geek craft projects, from Star Trek to comics – and of course, WoW. "Fantastic" was the word the book's editorial team used over and over again in describing this abominably sweet little project.
In fact, the editors were so enthusiastic about World of WarCrafts' nominations that they chose a handful of projects for a mention.
- Sugarrat's bleach shirt (Sugarrat of Earthen Ring-US)
- Murbean plushie (Amythys of Sisters of Elune)
- Murky plush (reader Claire)
- Super potions (Shelbi, The Bronze Kettle)
- Secret of the Ooze (Shelbi, The Bronze Kettle)

You're asking for trouble if you wear that mask to Blizzcon.

I tend to agree. I don't really see anything but a wow tiger.

There's one little problem with walking around the con with a Worgen or Goblin mask. The leaked info could be wrong/fake. Somebody could really make a fool out of you. But, if you're creative you could make a joke out of it. Wouldn't hurt to go prepared for that scenario would it?
Still a nice idea. Perhaps others could make masks of the other Hallow's End masks.

Even if they don't end up being playable races, they're still in the game.

But if the mask looks really good, no one will really care.

The female maybe, but the male is definitely a wolf. It's probably because the mask is a 2D image--you'd get it if it was 3D.

It's because the masks are flat, so we can't see how long the muzzle might be. That face could easily be wrapped around a more canine head and look good, I think.

I understand where you're coming from, but the feline perception is largely due to the foreshortening of the masks we see here. Since it's a flat, two-dimensional image, we can't really see a lengthened snout to suggest a wolf .The lack of ears also leaves the image more open to variation. I think once (if?) we see this on an actual model it will look very much like a worgen.
