New BlizzCon 2009 schedule available

Mere minutes after we posted the fact that Blizzard had retracted their previous schedule, they released a new one. The layout of the new schedule is less pleasing to the eyes and a bit harder to read, but there's certainly some interesting stuff there.
For example, the first panel after the opening ceremonies is a "World of Warcraft Preview Panel." Previewing... what? Personally, I'm going to throw money down on Cataclysm. Also, it appears the PvP panel is gone. Folded into the two 1-hour long "class, item and profession" panels, perhaps? Then again, the PvP panel was really about the arena and battleground maps last year, wasn't it? If there's a Cataclysm preview, it very well might be a part of that. The Guild is also no longer competing with a WoW panel, and there's a new panel first thing on Saturday about breaking into the gaming industry. Plus, a 'live raid' panel probably similar to what they had at the last Worldwide Invitational: Watch one of the top guilds in the world tackle a high-end raid boss. Algalon, perhaps? Cool stuff.

Hmmm...This could be interesting, they wouldn't have changed anything if they wern't planning on making a big announcement.

Very nice. Tyvm for re-posting this, AND big enough to where I can actually see it.
I want to see it all, EVERY panel!! Bwah-ha-ha!!

I really don't want to pick, but can wow.com please stop reffering to the next expansion by name until bliz says that's what the name is. Speculation is all fine and good but let's try and have some journalistic integrety, blog or not.
Sorry it's just driving me crazy

WE know it's going to be Cataclysm even if they have not said it them self. Now if you want to keep hoping that it is fluffy bunnys go to ice land you can keep wishing till then.

if by 'know' you mean Blizzard has applied to trademark 'Cataclysm' therefore one of its current SIX unnamed titles in development is likely to have the name 'Cataclysm' making the odds of the new WoW expansion being called this 5 TO 1 AGAINST then yes we 'know'

I don't recall WoW.com EVER saying the next expansion will indeed be named "Cataclysm", but it is the best guess that there is to what the name will be since they have trademarked that name. we'll just have to wait and see for that. I personally like how they are caliing it by name, or what they believe the name to be. To me, that does show integrity, and that the bloggers and coloumnists here at WoW.com feel that their research, sources, and journalistic instincts are good enough for their readers. It's a blog that is updated often, if they happen to be wrong, they correct themselves and let us know what is going on.
Keep up the good work guys! hope to see more on >CATACLYSM< soon.

Everyone knows what they're talking about when they call it Cataclysm. Easier than saying "WoW's anticipated, yet to be announced, unnamed expansion".
I'm sure if it's called something else, we'll all start calling it that on the weekend (or whenever it's announced, just in case it's not at Blizzcon, perish the thought!) instead!

Is it me or they removed the PvP panel?
[I mean "panel", not the PvP match that is going at the same time.]
volicio Aug 18th 2009 9:30PM
they also seem to have removed indicators for when live broadcast will be happening.

if I'm reading the schedules right it looks like the Guild panel is no longer competing with one of the WoW panels, which is good for us rabid WoW and Guild fans.
Slyght Aug 18th 2009 11:02PM
They accidentally posted the Blizzcon 2008 schedule this morning. That's what that was. So they didn't "change" the schedule today, they just posted the correct one.
Charlie Aug 19th 2009 1:13AM
Uh... not true? There's the Live Broadcast, A few DIII Panels, and The Guild panel, all of which weren't there last year (at least I think their were).
Slyght Aug 19th 2009 2:02AM
Uh... maybe do some research? Seriously, do we have to question EVERYTHING that's ever posted? Fine, you want proof, here, scroll halfway down:

Look familiar? Yes, D3 was at Blizzcon last year (the big announcement was the mage class). Yes, The Guild had a panel last year (and if people recall, there was minor distress for some WoW fans about having to choose between going to that or a WoW panel). Yes, they had live coverage of the event last year, on DirectTV, not internet.

I'm so excited. I hope we get a trailer like the one we got last Blizzcon. http://www.gametrailers.com/video/trailer-wow-wrath/23133

Isn't the Live Raid supposed to be the showdown between Ensidia and someone else? Two guilds trying to get as much done in Ulduar as possible within the timelimit. First done or furthest at the end of the timelimit wins the competition.
Charlie Aug 19th 2009 1:08AM
New Schedule = Much Better.
I don't have nearly as many conflicts. I think i'll get to see everything I want to.
Mushanga Aug 19th 2009 12:04PM
Eh, I can only find one contest period, for costume, song and dance... What the hell happened to the Machinima contest?
Jim Whatshisname Aug 19th 2009 9:18AM
I'll be watching the stream over here in Europe. I can't find any mention of the time zone on the schedule though, I'm guessing it's PST (-8)? And what about daylight savings?
Would be so much easier if they could post a conversion for EU server time since we all know where we are in relation to that. :P
Osiris Aug 19th 2009 1:46PM
Anyone confirm that if I order the blizzcast blizzcon that I will be able to see all of the costume contest and Ozzy? Thanks for the help.
Stuart Thompson Aug 19th 2009 3:55PM
Thanks for posting this. Makes participating with the internet stream much easier to plan.
