WoW comic #22 preview
Blizzard and DC/Wildstorm released the preview for the 22nd issue of the official World of Warcraft comic last night. The official soliciation says: The new Council of Tirisfal is formed. Med'an keeps Meryl's possession a secret. Maraad acts on his vision, but what does it have to do with Valeera? The latest issue of the World of Warcraft comic is on sale August 19. Check out the preview pages now!
The excerpt is about normal fare for the comic, but includes some tasty plot bits that lend plenty of credence to certain leaked information about WoW: Cataclysm ... if you're looking for it. Half-blood prince shamagaladin Med'an seems to be training heavily to learn all the different schools of magic, which calls Jaina to suggest that they... well, I guess you'll have to read it.
Check it out on newsstands (do those still exist?) today!

Med'an is the half-blood prince?! OMG Harry Potter has been ruined for me. :'(

Here come the comments about "stop talking about Catacylsm until Blizzard confirms it! It's no confirmed yet!!"

Med'an has my vote to be the next Guardian. It's already part of his bloodline.
Nothing against Thrall, but I would hate for Blizz to rearrange the entire lore around the Guardians to allow a non-mage. This way they can make excuses for Orc Mages while keeping to what has been written.
Otome Aug 19th 2009 6:22PM
Gah my bad, I misread the preview and missed the part where they want to allow all other classes of magic.
Oh well, I'd still rather Med'an be the new one so they can introduce another lore character into the game.

Not newstands, but your local comics specialty retailer.

Suddenly some of those rumors make a lot more sense. Originally, I was like "Thrall? Guardian of Trisfal? wtf mate?"
Personally, I don't think they will make Thrall the ACTUAL Guardian of Trisfal, like they did to Aegwynn and Medivh. Might name him "Guardian of Trisfall" in the sense that is his new task, but I have to agree, Med'an is likely going to be the next real Guardian.
Intriguing. Blizzard isn't confirming the rumors, but they are dropping hints that it might be right... :P

OMG, all mages will be Lore-nerfed!
Even Jaina is weak now. What do we do?
Buff us in 3.3 ahead of time!

Heh, just the other day people were calling BS on Thrall being a Guardian of Tirisfal. Then comes the Comic preview that lays out exactly how Thrall can be one. It's like Blizzard reads the fansites or something.
Reinhold Aug 19th 2009 9:27PM
Shouldn't this mean that Bauboubillee (MT in purpose) actually has a insider source that has access to these comics and part of what he wrote was based sorely on, well, hints like this?
I mean, it's not like it's hard to find a good contact or two that has access, even if it's limited, to things like this, ahead of the time.
Just sayin'
Suzaku Aug 20th 2009 9:33AM
Reinhold: He says that the information comes from a variety of sources, and a considerable amount of the information is actually based on datamining, as well (new class/race combinations, etc.).
And even WoW Insider has said that they've confirmed with an inside source that worgen and goblins are the new races for Alliance and Horde.

So from this, I assume this is going to explain why Thrall could be the new Guardian of Tirisfal (if the rumour from MMO Champion was correct this is.) If the New Order of Tirisfal is going to expand to include not just mages but all spellcasters, then Thrall could technically be a part of it (as hes a Shaman.)
At the end, when Jaina said she'd speak to Thrall, this was a big hint that made the WoW - Cataclysm rumours make more sense. As for him becoming the Guardian of Tirisfal, nothing's been said about that.

Nothing's been said, yet, but one wouldn't expect it that quickly. We've got probably a year or so of comics to go before the release of the next expansion. This story will unfold over many issues...

I like the story and all, but damn, I want to know what the hell the artist is thinking with Valeera's boobs. Yes, all women in comic books are spectacularly glamorous, but still, her breasts should not look like a pair of oversized oranges stuck to her chest.
Not that the men are better. Thrall, even Med'an look like they're on enough steroids to make the Hulk look like a bantam-weight. Really, a young boy should not have that much definition. I can barely stomach it with a hand-waving of orc physiology, but I really wish it was less extreme.
Crööl Aug 19th 2009 9:02PM
lol
Man... you ever seen a comic book before?
Hoggersbud Aug 20th 2009 12:04AM
Yeah, dude, that's why I said "Yes, all women in comic books are spectacularly glamorous," and why I bitch about Rob Liefeld still being let anywhere near a pencil. Have we not suffered enough?
Did we learn nothing from years of Cable, Youngblood, Savage Dragon?
Fan of comics though I may be, it doesn't stop me from thinking that it's possible to do better.
Crööl Aug 20th 2009 2:21AM
lol Sorry.. I hear ya my friend- especially about Liefeld! Please never again mention that vile name on this site again! Damn my eyes!
Suzaku Aug 20th 2009 9:33AM
Med'an is actually closer to Thrall's age. He looks so young because he's part-draenei, and draenei have incredibly long lifespans.
So he's had some 20-30 years to build up his muscle mass.
Hoggersbud Aug 20th 2009 11:25AM
That's true about him being a draenei as well, but damn, there must have been a lot of farm chores for him to do in Smal...er, Darkshire.
BathMatt Aug 20th 2009 5:13AM
Having actually read the whole of the comic, and hopefully without giving TOO much away, it seems more likely than ever that Med'an is to be the next Guardian.

Let us now speculate on the significance of Jaina's SIXTH FINGER on the last page of the preview. I think this is an error of cataclysmic proportions! excuse the pun.
