This used to really bother me. I was a big heroics runner back in the great badgefest patch 2.4. We would always shard the blues, partly because no one could use them, and partly because the mats sold for a pretty penny.
Nowadays, either because the mats just don't sell as well anymore, or just noobishness, or plain ninjaing, a lot of players just roll greed on everything, and don't even think twice to ask about enchanters. As I said, this bothered me, enough to try to talk to the group about it.
I got tired of that. Now, I just greed on everything and don't mention enchanting unless someone specifically asks. I'll sit there and politely greed along with everyone else and shard what I win.
I also get to the end, ask for rolls, tell how many shards, and people still leave. I've had several times where the group has left before I'm even done DEing.
I had enough abyss crystals yesterday for a new Berserking enchant on my Warrior's Edge of Ruin, just from heroic runs. Didn't even need to go to my own bank, hardly.
