Tradable BoPs has smoothed this out a bit. Everyone Greeds, if someone wants a DE, they can request it, trade up the item, and have it DE'd for them. As this is a service, non-guildies/friends should (but aren't required to) tip a small sum.
Prior to this, in order to quell issues with folks not understanding that DE'ing is a service, and while an Enchanter is not entitled to any unwanted loot, if he/she provides the service to the group, there should be a *little* something given back, I came up with this, which I haven't seen many take issue with:
* All un-"Need"-ed blues/epics go to the Enchanter.
* At the end of the run, Enchanter DE's the lot of 'em.
* Enchanter gets one shard off the top. The rest are divided evenly.
* If there aren't enough shards to go around, the rest of the party rolls on the remainder.
This has a couple benefits:
* Enchanter *always* gets something for his/her time and service.
* Rest of party gets a fair chance at the proceeds, value-boosted by the DE.
