I cannot imagine why anyone would think the enchanter should keep the shards, nor why they should be tipped for disenchanting BoP items during a run. Most everyone provides some kind of utility to a group; I don't expect to be reimbursed for providing the reagents required to buff the group, either.

Establishing loot rules up front in a PuG is always a good idea, just so there's no confusion later. But I've seen my share of ninjas and loot hogs too and it's probably just going to happen from time to time.

I've never seen this kind of controversy before and my main is an enchanter.
