Live Ustream of the WoW.com reader meet-up
Looks like the gang's getting started at the Tangerine Patio of the Annabella Hotel, and we've got the live Ustream feed here so you can hang out virtually!
If you're in the Anaheim area, swing by to say hello to the gang, and we've got prizes and giveaways from Upper Deck, Steelseries, WoWTCGLoot.com, Swagdog, and Creative Labs in addition to guests, a (we hope functional) kitchen and a cash bar! We may be able to give prizes away to virtual attendees as well, so hang tight. More updates will follow throughout the evening.
UPDATE: Yup, audio's lousy, we're working on it. Turpster apparently has another microphone. Now if only we could find Turpster...
Additional notes and updates beyond the cut.
BlizzCon 2009 is here! WoW.com has continuing coverage, bringing you the latest in Cataclysm news, live blogs, galleries, and reports right from the convention floor. Check out WoW.com's Guide to BlizzCon for the latest!UPDATE (11:29 PM EST/8:29 PM PST): Some technical issues so the broadcast is currently off, but the reader meet-up itself is in full swing. Oh, and let us know if you find Turpster anywhere, because otherwise I have the sneaking suspicion he's going to wake up on a cargo ship halfway across the Pacific.
UPDATE (11:34 PM EST/8:34 PM PST): Back on!
11:42 PM EST: Daniel Whitcomb: Sacco...I love you, you're my main man...I miss you like flowers in winter miss the sun.*
Yeah, you guys aren't blitzed AT ALL.
11:58PM: Vincent Caso (Bladezz) from The Guild is here talking to our Ustream commenters!
12:02 AM: Liz just confirmed that Felicia Day is also there! Adam's going to go try to get her on-camera for you guys.
12:04 AM: For those keeping track, Mike Schramm, Robin Torres, Daniel Whitcomb, Alex Ziebart, Adam Holisky, Turpster, and Elizabeth Harper have all appeared on-camera so far.
12:09 AM: Commenters are clamoring for Jeff Lewis (Vork), spotted talking to Mike Schramm.
12:11 AM: Zach Yonzon on camera!
12:12 AM: Just as Jeff Lewis (Vork) and Robin Thorsen (Clara) appear we lag. Grrrr.
12:14 AM: Felicia Day, Jeff Lewis, and Robin Thorsen! To answer your question, right now we have 1668 viewers of the stream.
12:15 AM: Sandeep Parikh (Zaboo) on-camera!
12:19 AM: 1707 viewers and still climbing. Heh, anytime someone from The Guild is on, our Ustream chatters go nuts.
12:23 AM: DO NOT ASK TURPSTER TO STRIP. REPEAT, DO NOT ASK TURPSTER TO STRIP.
12:27 AM: I was up waaaay late the other night and have to hit the sack, but the meet-up is still going strong. We'll have a recap for you guys later!

i might agree that felicia love got out of hand, but at least it was love and not hate. there wasn't much hate going on. just a lot of "show us moobs" and "
thenix95 Aug 21st 2009 1:08AM
omg i was jipped out of a loot card by Mike. he did a trivia about first boss in MC and i answered first correctly but he gave to the dude below me. WTF??????
Tom Aug 21st 2009 1:10AM
you did not win stop crying, its a damn loot card big deal, you did not answer first, we all saw the other guy answer first, not you, no sense in crying over it, so just get over yourself
x08redsee08x Aug 21st 2009 1:11AM
First of all it was the last boss of Molten Core not the first. Second you didn't win.
x08redsee08x Aug 21st 2009 1:15AM
Also it was Pacificus that won.
P.S. Hope you guys are having fun over there
benicrystal Aug 21st 2009 1:28AM
Hey, this is Pacificus.
i'm sorry you feel you got jipped, I did not see anyone above me in my chat channel, so it must have lagged :/ Don't think mike saw it either :/
Starsmore Aug 21st 2009 1:25AM

Nintendwarf Aug 21st 2009 1:36AM
Oh no I got banned. I was only joking when I said "No I refuse to". I hope it's not a perma ban.
Nintendwarf Aug 21st 2009 1:51AM
If someone can get metallink99 unbanned I would be grateful. I really like chatting with you guys I didn't mean to harm anyone.
sgtsolidus Aug 21st 2009 2:03AM
I too got banned =(, whoever was on the wowinsider tag said my guild sucks. i thought he was joking so i (also joking) said no your guild sucks. i don't see why i was banned yet the random person you got to chat for you got nothing.

I just got back from the event. I'm sorry to say I was pretty disappointed in the way the event turned it out. It was EXTREMELY disorganized. Introductions for the wow.com staff were very poor, which is unfortunate since they all deserve to be recognized. I am VERY surprised at how the giveaways were handled. It pretty much turned into a free for all lying contest. You got to walk away with a prize as long as you weren't ashamed to keep your hand up when they called out a faction/race/level/achievement combination. This stuff should have been checked out on armory or another method should have been utilized. The best part was getting to see Turpster again after he interviewed me in the Blizzcon line. WEWT FOR TURPSTER!
BuzzDX Aug 21st 2009 2:32AM
Practice makes perfect. I wasn't there, but I can't imagine it being the least bit organized with a lot of people around.
Starsmore Aug 21st 2009 2:32AM
awwwAWWAwww, someone is mad that they didn't give anything to gnomes
kcihc Aug 21st 2009 2:39AM

Oh great, didn't realize i can't edit my comments.
Anyways, a note on why the camera lags whenever you move it.
The compression on the video stream is dynamic depending on how much change there is on the screen. So when the scenery isn't changing by much (stationary view, people standing around), 1600+ audience have no problems watching it. But if the camera is in continuous motion, the number of changing pixels goes way up, which is exacerbated by the number of people watching, so the server struggles to relay the information, resulting in lag spikes and potential disconnects.
So if you're going to use the same method to stream video again, try not to move the camera at all.

Doubtful that I'll make the 4am start tomz, but good luck getting in everyone.
Didn't get to c it on ustream, but if there is a Codex T kiss poster, I'll be buying.
If your at all interested in any screenshots lemme know cause I got a couple.
