BlizzCon 2009: The Cataclysm trailer
The Cataclysm cinematic, as first shown this afternoon at the BlizzCon 2009 opening ceremonies, is pretty darn epic (as all of Blizz's cinematics have been, really). If you haven't gotten a chance to watch it yet, fear not - there are options. You can watch it embedded above in this post, or you can head on over to Blizzard's official site and watch it streaming or download a high-quality version.
And you definitely should watch it if you haven't yet. There's a ton of good information right here on WoW.com, but a video is worth quite a lot of words. There's even a gnome in this one! (A priest, near the end.) Not to mention goblins, which I hear are the new gnomes. I am incredibly excited.

What strikes me is in comparison to the WotLK trailer, the Cataclysm trailer seems to show so much more. The Wrath trailer had a couple of humans frolicking in Howling Fjord and a DK casting Army of the Dead. The Cataclysm trailer shows multiple zones with lots of polish and the new races also with a lot of detail.
Seems that Cataclysm is much further along in development at this point than Wrath was at BlizzCon '07.

Not to mention those "DKs" were wearing Hunter armor lol

I'll admit the voice narrating this trailer was a bit over the top with his epic deep voice. xD Oh well, watching this still got me really pumped about the expansion.
I can't wait to see the actual cinematic trailer, Deathwing is going to look phenomenal (as will everything else!)

Totally Geeked out about the Guild Talents. Then progresson will mean something besides an e-peen. And only 5 levels to go is a plus in my book, makes it easier to get all the alts up to speed and try a different one in raids. It doesn't matter though since the world is going to be full of Worgen Death Knights and Goblin Mages anyway.

You know, it made me wonder what was going to happen with the Death Knights now that Arthas will be gone. I was kinda hoping that they would put out a notice on the last 3. patch that stated that this was the last shot to get DK's, or at least not allow goblin or worgen dk's since they'll come in post-LK. I'm not hating the DK's by any means, I just thought they would be a part of the 3. storyline and would expire with Arthas.

Well it's official now. Official that Blizzard is getting lazier that is. So, again, no new classes yet we going to get same classes recycled. Troll druids, tauren pallies and gnome priests... *yawn*. Game has been out for nearly 5 years Blizz, you can't just keep reusing the same stuff over and over and call it "content".
I guess since people have been whining since BC that they wanted flying mounts in Azeroth, they are getting their wish. Too bad we're getting same zones recycled. I mean seriously, Heroic Deadmines?! Good.. Freakin'.. Grief.
Suzaku Aug 22nd 2009 8:11AM
Wrath had eight zones for 68-70, and BC had seven for 58-60.
Cataclysm, so far, has five new zones for 78-85. That's only slightly lightly slower than previous expansions, and in realistic terms, is more zones per level.
There's also already more raids planned for Cataclysm than have been released in Wrath so far.
Plus, if you count the two new starting zones in Cataclysm, and all of the revamped geography in old zones, Cataclysm already easily beats Wrath in terms of content.

One thing I didn't like was the narration, not for the reasons the others said, but because I adored the WotLK Trailer, with Arthas'Zul narrating the whole thing, I could see Deathwing or Alexstrasza doing this one.

Right after they show the revamped desolace (do we still call it that) and before the line "new conflicts erupt" there is a shot of Tauren lifts, is that suppose to be whats left of Thunder Bluff or is it the new 1k Needles?
ayalafatalis Aug 21st 2009 11:28PM
Im almost certain that narrator is Metzen doing one of his 'voices'

I agree 100$ with Ducewild... it seems neat, but I don't want to pay for something I already have.
Evil Midnight Lurker Aug 21st 2009 11:48PM
You'll get the revamped 1-60 content for free. Expansion gets you the 81-85 zones, races, and other such stuff.
DuceWild Aug 22nd 2009 12:14AM
cool.....and that will only cost $25 - $30 right?
Evil Midnight Lurker Aug 22nd 2009 12:17PM
Leveling may only be from 80-85, but the way they're talking it up implies roughly the same amount of content as the previous expansions.
Suzaku Aug 22nd 2009 8:10AM
There are, so far, five new leveling zones from 78-85, only slightly less than we had in Wrath and BC. And it looks like a couple of the new ones will be pretty huge.
Throw in Gilneas, the Lost Isles, and all of the zone revamps, plus the raids and dungeons that have already been announced, and you easily have more content, geographically, than was introduced in Wrath.
JLocke Aug 21st 2009 11:38PM
no matter how many times I watch this, it keeps getting better every time
Carver Aug 21st 2009 11:38PM
Goblins > Gnomes by far!
Starlin Aug 21st 2009 11:49PM
I just saw a gold ad pop up in the player. I thought you guys didn't show gold ads.
Syrael Aug 22nd 2009 12:26AM
That new water is a nice touch that no-one seems to notice.
