BlizzCon 2009: Worgen animation
Our own Mike Schramm brings you video of the process Worgen players will undergo when they transform, fresh from the BlizzCon floor. Enjoy your piping hot man to beast-man transformation! I know I'm going to be keeping my Worgen in his bestial form as much as possible, myself, but it's still cool to watch.
Update by Mike Schramm: Since we took this video at the Art Panel, I've played the Worgen on the floor, and this animation is now fully implemented in the demos here. Going into combat as a Worgen does a quicker animation that sends you into Wolf form (yes, you must be in Wolf form during combat, and it's purely cosmetic). But hitting the transformation ability while a human will give you this animation -- it looks great.

I think it looks kind of goofy. "Oh no, I have a wolf arm!" "Oh no, I have another wolf arm!" "Oh no, migraine!" *POOF* "Roar!"

Worgen. For. Life.

So is this something that only happens once, like only when you begin to play in the starting zones? Or is this an ability that you can do whenever.
Grumblecakes Aug 21st 2009 10:47PM
It's a racial ability.

I knew from the start that I'd roll a Worgen... but this just made me even more excited for it!

Just a small thing, the ad I got on the video (that one that pops up in the bottom) was for a gold selling service. I assume you guys are not keen on gold-selling per se, so...

(insert typical drooly awesome comment)
Also, was there anything special going on in the art panel? Will there be an article with all the goodies/comments/questions covered? Just curious if I missed it, if it's still incoming, or if its not being covered here at all. Thanks

I dont mean to be a party pooper, but is this news really that exciting? Lorewise, I am SUPER psyched! I love the Warcraft story, its definitely fun fun fun to explore the lore. Gameplay-wise, this is a bit underwhelming in my humble opinion. We get to level up more alts from 1 to 85, whoopee. Other than how outstanding the world looks in the trailer, it seems like more of the same.

Except for the new quests to keep us interested! :D

Oh, FFS.
The expansion was announced...today. We have a miniscule amount of info so far. Among that info was "more endgame content than ever before" and "hundreds of quests revamped". A guild leveling system.
Try harder, please.

if you're sick of WoW, you're sick of WoW - no expansion is going to make it into a different game, you'll have to actually play a different game for that.

What were you expecting? F@$%inf star cruisers?
loleve Aug 22nd 2009 5:15AM
@uncaringbear: It's in the next x-pac! They're gonna have space-PvP and BGs like EVE-Online because Blizzard is afraid that they're gonna take WoW's place in the MMO world! Also, they're gonna have the x-pac's story take place on a different planet (not Outland lol) and the zones are gonna look like something from Starcraft, because blizz loves to recycle content from every game they own because they think it's good for the environment.

Any confirmation on what the end result human form will look like? Will they be identical to the current humans in the game or will they have their own sort of unique look, that separates them from the current human race?
I realize that the human/worgen forms are only cosmetic and that you don't need to ever switch to human, if you don't prefer to, especially since you fight in worgen form. At the same time, I would love it if the human form looked different from current in-game humans, as a way of separating them and giving them their own unique feel. A more feral human, with slightly wild features and glowing eyes, maybe?
Jason Aug 22nd 2009 4:28AM
On the same account, if you hover over them or /who them while they're in human form, will it still say "Level __ Worgen"?
jbodar Aug 22nd 2009 7:44AM
As cool as that sounds, they've already established that cursed humans are indistinguishable from normal ones -- see: Grizzly Hills.

What about Worgen Druids?? If im a resto druid, and im a worgen, am i in tree form or worgen form? Im sick of looking at tree form all the time, so if i can be a worgen while raid healing ill faction change the second its released and go alliance.
evilawngnome Aug 21st 2009 11:05PM
What I want to know is, if anyone knows, will Worgen druids turn into a cat for feral form? Just seems wrong, hopefully they'll make them into a more traditional type wolf.
