BlizzCon 2009: Worgen animation
Our own Mike Schramm brings you video of the process Worgen players will undergo when they transform, fresh from the BlizzCon floor. Enjoy your piping hot man to beast-man transformation! I know I'm going to be keeping my Worgen in his bestial form as much as possible, myself, but it's still cool to watch.
Update by Mike Schramm: Since we took this video at the Art Panel, I've played the Worgen on the floor, and this animation is now fully implemented in the demos here. Going into combat as a Worgen does a quicker animation that sends you into Wolf form (yes, you must be in Wolf form during combat, and it's purely cosmetic). But hitting the transformation ability while a human will give you this animation -- it looks great.

I'd be more worried about Worgen walking up and peeing on you as a tree as opposed to how worgen tree's work. ;)

Is it more or less wrong for a wolf-man to change into a cat or bear than it is for a cow-man?
Fightstar Aug 21st 2009 11:03PM
Won't that take a little long, getting into combat?
And who will want to ever play human again after seeing that? You can be both human and worgen now, Kinda making human redundant.
Unless you really like human paladins.

Worgens also cannot be priests.
Fightstar Aug 21st 2009 11:12PM
Matt, I disagree.

ZOMG WORGEN IMPLOSION!

Is the human form different then the traditional human form? He seems to be standing more upright.
kabshiel Aug 21st 2009 11:12PM
Nope, it's the same old ugly human male we know and love.

I really don't care how many of these are rolled....cause ill be one of them. Something basic like a Worgen Warrior seems oddly appealing. They seem like a great melee race. I guess a rogue would be cool too

Worgen iz for fite!

I'm really eager to play this race. I've always been fascinated by the worgen. My problem is, what class to play??
According to the class list released, the one class I absolutely positively wanted to play is unavailable. (Worgen Enhancement shammy dual-wielding fist weapons, ftw) I don't really want to play another Hunter (my main is a hunter) nor do I want to play a caster (werewolf in a dress? Meh. I'll pass.) I could stand to play another high-level druid, but I'm worried I wouldn't get to see my kick-ass worgen form much then. A rogue could be cool, but I've been leveling a rogue, and it really isn't my favorite class. Not sure I want to level ANOTHER one. Which leaves me with DK and Warrior. I assume DK worgen will use the standard DK starting area instead of the worgen starting area, so I guess that's out if I want to see Gilneas the way it's suppose to be seen. And I've never really played a warrior, so I may or may not like it... Well, I like my bear druid, so maybe?
So I guess I'm rolling a Worgen Warrior. >.>

You raise an interesting point about Worgen DKs. I hope we get clarification on whether they start at level 55 in Ebon Hold or level 1 in Gilneas tomorrow.
I originally was thinking Worgen druid myself, but it didn't occur to me that most of the time I would be shape-shifted so I would not really appreciate the form very much. My thoughts, having played most classes now, are that I would want a hybrid - a pure DPS class is just too restrictive towards the end game. That only really leaves a warrior or deathknight...

Ok so what the hell is going to happen!? I thought if I was a worgen I was staying one, I think this is only for the opening story like all other race openings, I wana stay a worgen I dont want to be a human out of combat!
theminifig Aug 21st 2009 11:36PM
You have a choice .. Worgen or Human out of combat.
Linainverse Aug 21st 2009 11:41PM
Not only a Yeah, but a Hell Yeah! 8D Too freaking awesome. :fakes a wise nod: I knew there was a reason I stuck with the Alliance for so long. ;)
(Also, Garrosh being the Horde leader = complete and total FAIL. 'Nuff said.)
Barinthos Aug 21st 2009 11:48PM
I have to agree with a lot of the previous comments. I want to play Worgen because it's just getting that much cooler every time an update about them comes out. And if Garrosh really does become the next Warchief he can suck it and not expect me to back him up.

Question: From what you've seen so far, are there times when you're required to be in Human form? I honestly want no part of this transformation malarky, I just want to be a Worgen.
Xehirut Aug 21st 2009 11:53PM
Nope, you can be a worgen at all times apparently.
It's just a racial talent that you can switch back and forth on the fly.
Moo-haha Aug 24th 2009 9:56PM
ACTUALLY the worgen starting quests might require some human form, just for phasing though
Tyrant T104 Aug 22nd 2009 12:04AM
well there tips the scale in alliance horde population on realms. seriously, everyone is gonna roll a worgen or just switch to alliance because they're pissed at garrosh, which on pvp realms and some pve realms will make the game unplayable for the horde. lore wise there's no way humans would allow worgen into stormwind, those racists would treat them the same way they treat the forsaken.
