Breakfast Topic: So you're not going to BlizzCon
It's okay. There's 11 million WoW players. If we all went to BlizzCon it would be very, very crowded. Still, it's hard to deny the coolness we'll be missing. (No, I'm not going either.) Previews of upcoming games! Possible expansions! Panels where people who work at Blizzard talk about why they're nerfing or buffing your class! Swag! Murloc pets! My wife and I managed to at least get the Live Stream (she wanted a murloc, I wanted to see the panels, we're both happy) but watching it on the video feed isn't really the same thing as getting to go.
So my plans are as follows: finish up the week's raiding, fire up the live stream, and run as many alt runs through 10 and 25 man raids, heroics and assorted fun super happy time activities as I can to take my mind off of all the awesome news I'm sure will be leaking all over the place. How about you? Do you even care about the con? Are you sad, mad, or even glad not to go?

As cool as it would be, I wouldn't like how crowed it would be. On the other hand, if anything was going to get me to that crowded a space, it'd most likely be Blizzcon.

Id really like to go, but its not really feasible for me living in the UK. Maybe one year :D
Samfisher Aug 21st 2009 8:06AM
I'm gonna be on the live stream too, and it will be like 2am - 12pm for me here @_@ I'm sure I won't regret this though, and I just came back from Blizzcon-telecast-food-supply shopping and ended up with a receipt 1 meter long...

I cant guy and i wish i could i said i would last year but the money isnt there. I might get the live stream though. My only question is...Is it only a live stream? I have work today and tommorow and dont want to pay $40 if im going to miss all of it. But if i can come home and watch them via download or just not live id buy it. I hope we get details on cataclysm if it is anything more than rumors.

I just hope the live stream works. If I have to sit through a choppy opening ceremony feed, I'm going to be pissed.

I knew I wasn't going (have two small children, too young to be left with someone else for that long) but it's still a little disappointing. The convention experience is something special. I'll be watching for the cooler announcements here on wow.com and carrying on with my normal day. Hopefully the site isn't flooded with "entirely" Blizzcon stuff... though it probably will be.

There would be some novelty and excitement to be had by attending. However, I'll still get all the news, and it'll still be new (for me) when I finally read/hear it. Traveling so I can pay Blizz to "tease" me with its marketing is not as much fun as logging into WoW for some playtime.
If a bunch of guildies from around the country all intended to go, it'd be different, and I'd likely make the trip.

While I'd love to attend it's just was not possible financially this year. However, I will be on the live stream which is hopefully as vicariously awesome as being there.

while it would be pretty sweet to go to blizzcon, i do admit it's not worth my precious vacation time or the $$$ to go there. I'll be just as happy to read what i can off of wow.com and other sites. Please..... let them announce the start of sc2 beta!

My husband and I would have loved to go, but times are tight and there's the kids to think of so we bought the webcast instead. He gets the pet, I get to geek out to the streaming video, and we're all happy. I just hope I can go back and watch things I miss, because work would -not- let me off this weekend :-(
Stormdragon Aug 21st 2009 8:52AM
Yes now what you mean my wife and I are in the exact same boat...just like thousands of others from my calculations, we have kids, jobs, and a really crappy economy preventing us from attending so it's Direct TV to the rescue. I got the pet too I think she deemed it not cool enough to be seen with her...but as she pointed oout there are a lot of folks (many of who we know) who can't even swing the internet stream this year...so we are updating our blog ( http://companyoftehwolf.org ) regularly to help keep folks in the loop.
It always could be worse I guess.

The only reason i wanted to go was to chain the doors shut and leave a sign saying "Additional instances cannot be launched, try again later."
Seems like a lot of travelling though just to annoy Bliz!
morkuma Aug 21st 2009 8:29AM
live stream, profession whoring in dalaran, and maybe some 5 mans since i will be glued to the stream.
bought the live stream because the wife wanted the pet.. so we will be spending our 5 year anniv watching blizzcon live stream. can't really complain.
Jamie Aug 21st 2009 2:02PM
I would LOVE to go, but half way across the country. I might buy the stream, but that's $40 I can't really justify right now. I kind of feel like the only way to experience it is to be there. Maybe next year. Although I did enter the original song contest, and evidently they're waiting to announce the winners until the actual event, so it would be cool to actually see it live if I win. Yea, like that's gonna happen...

I'm not going to BlizzCon, I don't want to; it's really not my thing. I am definitely getting very anxious about hearing news about Cataclysm. Being 9 hours ahead of the time zone of the event, I have a lot of time to spend. Hopefully you guys are right on time with any news right after the preview panel because I'll have to go to bed!

But Matt, there are real people at Blizzcon. Not my thing.
