Umm.. high(ER) quality than the last one, but this is just a quick sketch up, they even said themselves this isn't accurate at all. I mean, the barrens isn't even cut in half, so the yellow doesn't imply destroyed land...
Urza Aug 21st 2009 11:59PM
I think the yellow is supposed to strongly imply what is gone. If you look at where Uldum is, it cuts into a chuck of missing sithilis which goes with the sithilis revamp.
Lionhearte Aug 22nd 2009 12:44AM
Actually, think of it this way, the Yellowish part is the actually land piece, it's mostly resembling mountains and high cliffs, and the grey is the zone itself. Bluerobin427 has the idea.
Suzaku Aug 22nd 2009 8:12AM
C'mon guys, you played here from level 1-60. It's not that complicated.
The yellow stuff is where you can't currently get to in game. For example, the mountains all around Un'goro crater, on the edges of Arathi Highlands, all around Dun'morogh, or Southern Silithus beyond the Wall of Ahn'qiraj, which was originally planned to be a zone, etc..
That's all the terrain that needs to be fixed and remade to allow for flying mounts.
Red is the seven new zones.
That's all this is. A map of all the old zones and old boundaries, with red marking where they're adding new zones.

The "Deathwing Scar" is very close to SW. But it's in the unplayable area next to burning steps/searing gorge I think? Wonder if you have to fly to get in there?
drakolord Aug 22nd 2009 2:39AM
I'm fairly certain that's exactly where the 'Deathwing Scar' is, which is odd considering he emerged from Grim Batol. Also, I'm confused on how he got into Deepholm. But thats irrelevant.
Suzaku Aug 22nd 2009 8:13AM
The Elemental Planes (seriously, who expected the Elemental Planes to be coming so soon?) are connected to Azeroth in various locations, it would seem.
They've said that the Sunken City of Vashj'ir is connected to the Abyssal Maw, and I assume that Deephome can be accessed from deep, deep within Grim Batol.
Kassanu Aug 21st 2009 11:55PM
Oh and all that yellow looks to be the mountainous parts that we can't get to now anyway.
havitech Aug 21st 2009 11:58PM
Maybe I missed something, but are the two continents now one instance, allowing seemless travel between Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms? Or is their closer proximity a result of this being a rough sketch?
Urza Aug 22nd 2009 12:00AM
Just a sketch of what the 2 will look like.
regisfrost Aug 22nd 2009 12:01AM
They are still two instances. No flying across the sea yet.
Josh Last Aug 22nd 2009 12:00AM
Registered just to say the grey zones are the actual playable zones, while the yellow indicates terrian that is in the game lore-wise but is not accessable by players.
Llowe Aug 22nd 2009 12:05AM
This expansion really needs Undermine. I sure hope they do justice to the island of Kezan but it doesn't appear on this map...
Jack Spicer Aug 22nd 2009 12:18AM
To be fair, neither does Northrend.
Torlaz Aug 22nd 2009 12:46AM
Lost Isles are the starting area for goblin, maybe so far unannounced or not in this exp
Torlaz Aug 22nd 2009 3:14AM
Yep in the lore panel from 12:45 - 1:00pm Metzen says "..And ohh is there some flavour there when you get to see it" regarding Kezan. That the goblins have been driven off of the island and are shipwrecked on the lost isles starting area.
They said through that same panel as well that Kezan wasn't shown on the map but sounds like it's supposed to be.. so it's probably going to be accessible this expansion as well.
Tom Musumeci Aug 22nd 2009 12:01AM
Deephome or Deepholm?
Katalliaan Aug 22nd 2009 12:04AM
Hard to tell. They both sound the same, so we have to wait for an official to-scale map.
Mathias Aug 22nd 2009 7:07AM
Since it's called "Tiefenheim" in in the german loca, i guess it's supposed to be Deephome. The places which have "holm" in the name usually don't get translated, at least not the holm part :>
Xehirut Aug 22nd 2009 12:01AM
It'd be nice to see this overlaid with the old map..
Any photoshop people that good? :)
