This video, which comes straight from this afternoon's BlizzCon Art Panel, shows off some of the environments Blizzard has put together for the Worgen, the brand new playable Alliance race. I love the look -- it's almost like Forsaken architecture, but before things went bad (or maybe with a hidden edge rather than a rotted look). We're not quite sure yet what these areas will be called -- most of it looks like what they're calling Gilneas City in the playable demos here on the floor.
But you'll probably agree that it does look excellent. We'll have another video coming up from the Art Panel soon, looking at the Goblins and what they've got sitting around their starting zones.
anyone else think the "worgen district" of stormwind might be a repurposed stormwind Vaults? just throwing that out there.. not the most diplomatic of offers on the human's part but in the video at around 0:49 the look could be the vaults?
I just hope and pray that Gilneas city is NOT a traditional World of Warcraft city, but instead a part of the zone in that you have dozens of quests and enemies to fights within the city.
One thing WoW hasn't done enough is urban combat. Warhammer Online did a lot more of this and I loved it... there is just something cool about battling in the streets of a city.
It doesn't look like anyone has said this, but I'm REALLY glad they are redoing the water in the game. Not going to be a crappy texture layer anymore.
It's hard to believe how WoW has progressed graphics-wise since it was first released. It may still not be up to par with, say, a 360 or PS3 game (might've been a bad idea in the first place to compare WoW with two consoles..), but the textures in the game stand out so well and give the game life.

Reminds me a little Bowerstone from Fable II.
Before I've seen that I was thinking that the perfect starting area for Worgen would be Duskwood :)

I fear this will be the add-on that turns Wow away from PPC-macs, that Blizzard goes the same way as many other developers to Intel-only...

Well, even Apple turns away from PPC, so what do you expect? ^^ As long as they don't start cider-porting all the games o.o
And totally reminds me of Fable!

Why wouldn't they turn away from the PowerProcessor Macs? Seriously... the G[x] is dead. Long live the Intels.

I'm pretty sure the city is called Skingrad.
Well, it looks the same.
