WoW Magazine site now live, hints at Doomhammer

Coming from left field, much to the surprise of everyone here at Team WoW.com, was the announcement of World of Warcraft: The Magazine which will be published by Future later this year. As promised, the website for the subscription-only quarterly went live in the wee small hours of this morning (GMT).You're probably scratching your heads and wondering why we're mentioning this when there's all the BlizzCon fun and games to talk about. Well, amonght other things, there's a really nice piece of artwork of the Lich King by Wei Wang, who we believe is going to be named the Eighth Son of the Storm at BlizzCon.
On top of that are the first hints at what the first issue will contain: a piece on the game's fifth anniversary (which suggests we may well see it around November time), articles focusing on new content (which I'm assuming is either code for Cataclysm or a peek at patch 3.3), and the lore behind the legendary weapon Doomhammer.
This is probably the entry which is going to have theorists asking intriguing questions. The Doomhammer is currently held by Thrall, and it's one of those uber weapons which most players want to get their hands on but can't get (because it's not actually implemented). It turns out this weapon will be the next 'Frostmourne', a replica weapon that if you have the cash you will be able to purchase and hang on your wall to confirm your hardcoreness.

He didn't mean the next Legendary quality item you can get in-game; they are talking about a real-life reproduction weapon, like they did with Frostmourne.

I'd be much happier if I were able to buy a single issue to check it out first. There's not a lot of info to go on from the website that makes me say "I have to subscribe!"
Warcraft or not, any magazine that asks me to subscribe before I see a single copy isn't one I'm that willing to read.

I agree. If i hadn't read it on Wow.com, i would think it was a fake site. It didn't show me anything/previews of the magazine. I'm hoping they will closer to the first issue, then i will subscribe.

The site was already up pretty early yesterday. I subscribed to the Mag yesterday afternoon Central time. Not that important I guess, but letting you know.
I'm still excited about the magazine, but between it, and the comic split upcoming, Dang Blizzard is gonna have me subscribing to 4 products!

No indication we'll be able to get Doomhammer in game, sounds like they're just going to sell expensive replicas like with Frostmourne.
Doomhammer in-game would mean either Thrall ending up as a raid boss, or Deathwing (or some other boss) kills Thrall and steals his weapon...

I'm annoyed that people who are at Blizzcon are the only ones who get the free gift.. complete BS!
I signed up yesterday but still, they should include a few ads and give subscribers something in-game, like TCG gets to give out!

I tried to subscribe just now, but after entering credit card information it wouldn't let me go any further. Is anyone else having a problem subscribing to the magazine?

The pet murlock was a good lure for me to sign up, now i have a 3 set collection of different colored plush murlocks. The marketing is just too hard to avoid.
