Day two of BlizzCon 2009: Round-up

- SATURDAY'S PANELS: We liveblogged the panels on Breaking Into the Industry, the general World of Warcraft Q&A, WoW Game Systems, the Dungeons and Raids panel (which included information on both Icecrown Citadel and Cataclysm content) and the second WoW Class Discussion panel.
- NEW FEATURES ANNOUNCED: Blizzard announced a long-awaited feature in the form of cross-server instances, which should dramatically increase the pool of people available to run a 5-man at any given time. We won't have to wait for the expansion; they believe it should be ready to go live in patch 3.3. Another long-awaited feature will make its debut in the form of rated battlegrounds and arena points from wins. A beloved feature of the old honor system -- ranked (and faction-specific) PvP titles! -- will also return.
- WORLD OF WARCRAFT: WE'RE ALL &$#*%*^ED NOW: Cataclysm continued its storm through the con, and we've got in-depth looks at an array of the announced features. Read on for a look at the Cataclysm narrative, tanks and the removal of +defense, an explanation of the Mastery system and new talent functionality, what we know about the Path of the Titans, the introduction of guild leveling and talents, the known dungeons of Cataclysm, and what we can expect to see in patch 3.3's Icecrown Citadel raid and 5-mans.
- PATCH 3.2.2: On the subject of Wrath game patches, Matt Rossi takes a look at the most eagerly-anticipated part of patch 3.2.2, the return of Onyxia.
- LIVE RAID: The top-ranked U.S. guild, Premonition, did a live raid against a series of selected bosses, falling eventually to...Hogger? No one saw that coming.
- CLASS AND ROLE COMMENTARY: Zach Yonzon and Eddie Carrington respectively have you covered on Warlock and Hunter information from at the Class Q&A panels, Christian Belt's written his column on Cataclysm and Mages, and Matticus examines the information released on stat changes and their likely repercussions for healers.
- VIDEOS: We have additional video of the new Worgen and Goblin starting areas, the finalists and winner of the costume contest, and the Dance and Soundalike contest.

I'm kinda curious as to why they did a "rerun" of the "WoW Class, Items, and Professions" panel. For an event streamed on satellite, the internet, and attended by mass amounts of people, couldn't they either do a different panel the second day or expand in part 2? Overall I liked the coverage of topics (and coverage of the coverage on this site), but was a little surprised to see the same panel two days in a row.
Ah well, thumbs up regardless.

Gonna be the best x-pack ever.

If there is another round of questions and answeres, then I would like you to ask a question that has been bothering me. If you are willing to do so ofc.
Will worgen have a cat form, or will they rather turn to more of their own bestial side and go wolf.
Not seen anywhere that you take questions the readers have to the devs, so I just wrote it here.
Just figured that a wolf taking the form of a cat to do more dmg seems kind of dumb :P

I didn't see a white Worgen fur color, anyone know if its an option? Worgens are my favorite addition to this xpack even though those racials make....goblins almost tempting.

The worgen look SO STUPID, armor doesn't fit on them, they look just awful.
Bleh.

I was really hoping they'd deliver on everyone's cries for either quicker leveling 1-60 or starting at 55 like DK's (More so the latter). And good lord did they deliver! This is better than I could have hoped for. I'm left more excited for 1-60 then I am 60-70, 70-80, and even 80-85. I can't wait to roll me a worgen something.

i'm pretty stoked to see azeroth revamped. it's long overdue tbh. it's gonna giving leveling new characters a whole new feel. i can't wait.

How come there is no female worgen model? I've watched the video several times and it's always male worgen.
Salem Aug 23rd 2009 4:26PM
Nevermind I found what I think is the female worgen, and it is worse than the goblin female look.

First off, I have loved your coverage of Blizzcon '09. Many, many great articles and information that I have been craving for a while. Hopefully you can stand a bit of constructive criticism.
I'm a filmmaker and photographer and read all your class/systems/dev, etc... panel discussions. I have loved the minute by minute blog format also and I've been patiently waiting to see the panel slide photos for a while now. When you released them onto their respective places in the panel articles I was a bit disappointed. Most of the photos are out-of-focus and not framed very well, although many of the photos are very nice.
Do you ever need anyone to photograph for you? I could send you some of my work and see what you think! :D
Let me know! I work cheap also... :D
