In-Game Launch event for Cataclysm confirmed

Kisirani, your friendly neighborhood world designer, replied to a comment in the general forms today where a player said he'd be disappointed if there wasn't a Cataclysm launch event. Kisirani replied:
*rolls up her sleeves and idly kicks the crates from last launch event under her desk*
We're on it.
That's confirmation in Blizzard speak.
Will it be as badass as the Lich King launching his forces into Stormwind, Orgrimmar, and the rest of Azeroth? My guess is that it'll be at least 37 times as badass.

maybe we'll get to see Deathwing shooting out of Deepholme like a bottle rocket.
then again, maybe not.

*KABOOOOOOOM*
Epic.

That'll likely be the cinematic video of the expansion. More than likely, we'll see a surge of Twilight Flight attacking major cities, perhaps elemental attacks. Good to see Ragnaros still lurking around. Regular Naga attacks on any cities near the coast?
While the plague and zombie infestation was a great launch event for Wrath, I'm not sure how they will top that and equally have the event fit in with Cataclysm. Maybe a curse that causes people to evolve into Naga?

Definite no brainer but always good to hear a confirmation :)

The Horde will probably be seeing Garrosh take Thrall's place. Can't say I'm looking forward to it, if that's the case. :/
Alchemistmerlin Aug 24th 2009 8:50PM
Yep, going to be terrible.
Dristan Aug 24th 2009 11:49PM
Yeah I have to agree with you. I'm for the first time seriously considering a move to
alliance. I'm not saying it's because of Garrosh exclusively (the
worgen look badass) but it certainly doesn't help.
Sayomara Aug 25th 2009 7:18AM
Garrosh taking over the Horde makes me want Warcraft to have betrayal quest more than ever. I understand we will be able to change races soon but for me I really don't want to change who my Troll is. I guess its just a matter of time with everything else Blizzard is doing.
Itanius Aug 24th 2009 7:24PM
It was mentioned in one of the interviews/panels at BlizzCon, also.

@Dristan
Now we BOTH have insane leaders. The difference is that Varian's father was slaughtered by the old Horde, he suffered amnesia and pwnd as a gladiator, killed the daughter of Deathwing and still managed to get back to Stormwind before things got too out of hand with the Lich King. Garrosh is just Grom's son. His angry, not-as-cool-as-Saurfang son.
Welcome to the Alliance.

SWEET! THIS WILL BE AWESOME! IT WON'T BE 37 TIMES AS BAD-ASS... IT WILL BE OVER 9000~... TIMES
Ametrine Aug 24th 2009 7:26PM
only 37? For shame, Adam - that was a perfect opportunity for a gratuitous "OVER 9000!!" joke, and you missed it.
Adam Holisky Aug 24th 2009 7:29PM
Yeah, but then I can't follow up tomorrow with "IN A ROW?!" jokes.
Mortosa Aug 24th 2009 11:29PM
"IN A ROW?" jokes are infinitely funnier.
The Claw Aug 25th 2009 1:13AM
37? Including me?
Zantrix Aug 25th 2009 2:14AM
Try not to blah any blah on your way through the parking lot! (obscenities replaced, obviously - but you get the point)
Nieker Aug 24th 2009 7:26PM
more like BOOOOOOOOOM whole world shakes for 3 days and all the old content is piece by piece torn appart by deathwing, not a "hey all things have suddenly changed" but a "ZOMG im here looking live how the barrens are thorn appart" event
Spiraea Aug 24th 2009 7:29PM
I'm expecting something similar to the Wrathgate quest line with a cinematic
Jason P Aug 24th 2009 7:52PM
"I'm expecting something similar to the Wrathgate quest line with a cinematic"
Is that the one in Dragonblight that the Dragon Queen shows us?
Rollo Aug 24th 2009 9:35PM
Remember how crates mysteriously appeared around the world before wrath? Just sitting around in the docks. I expect it will be similar, but instead of crates, it will be goblins.
I predict we will soon see a lot of goblins idling about in the coastal towns like ratchet and booty bay.
