Breakfast Topic: What secret weapon lies within Uldum?

Looking ahead beyond Icecrown Citadel, one of the zones that intrigue me the most has been around for an extremely long time. In Cataclysm, we're going to finally gain the chance to explore the area.
I'm referring to Uldum of course. Somewhere behind its gates, we'll be given the task of discovering and then securing the super weapon in order to keep it away from the hands (claws?) of Deathwing and from the Horde (or Alliance).
So here's the 64,000 gold question. What on Azeroth could possibly be so powerful to attract even Deathwing's attention? Think about it. He's one of the most powerful beings on the planet that's still alive. Granted he's lost his sanity a long time ago, but he seems lucid enough to go after something that can help amplify his power even further.
My idea? Well we know the Titans were involved in the creation of Ulduar and Uldum. Not only that, but they were responsible for landscaping all of Azeroth. So what if the weapon behind Uldum isn't really a weapon but more of a giant landscaping tool capable of flattening mountains or making really deep holes?
Or maybe it's a weapon similar to the one shown in my favorite science fiction TV show (which is no longer on the air) that has the ability to either create life or destroy it by reshaping their molecular structure? (Hint: Jaffa! Kree!) We will be assaulting the Halls of Origination after all.
Or maybe it's a whole swackload of caged murlocs with giant "lazers" attached to their bodies.
Bad movie references aside, anyone else out there the least bit curious about what we'll be going after in the future? Or what we're keeping away from Deathwing? What could it be?

The demon soul was destroyed...wasn't it? Do the books count?
Itanius Aug 29th 2009 10:11AM
The books are official canon approved my Mr. Metzen, so yes they do indeed "count".

Oooooh very good point. I've been keen to learnt he fate of Tyr for a looong time.
GuyverIV Aug 29th 2009 10:22AM
An interesting idea, but so far Bliz has not shown a tendancy to allow significant intermingling of Xpac lore characters, the only real notable exception being the Lost Crusader chain that has A'dal save the soul of a infected paladin.
No, what bothers me about the missing Watcher is... Well, The Lich King seems damn cocky, even knowing that we'd probably smack down an Old God while we were preparing to face him. And we don't know all the Bosses of Icecrown yet...
I'd hate to think Arthras could be that powerful, but it would go a long way to explaining his confidence.

We'll from all the Titans we know as of yet there can be a Guardian connected to each, with the exception of Tyr. The only one who comes close to "Order" is Aggramar, but he was never on Azeroth and was at no point involved with forging Azeroth. My theory is that the Titan that fell at Ahn'Qiraj was the Titan that represented Order and would've empowered Tyr. Uldum could have that Titans tomb (or sleeping place?) with his own weapon, that with the loss of order would've become a great weapon of chaos instead. That would be something Tyr would want to contain or keep Deathwing from attaining.
I wish the make Tyr cool, Blizzard and their teasing.
Just a thought..

I'm guessing it's going to be one of two things.
The first would be a misunderstanding ALA Ulduar was thought to be a Titan city, not housing an old god but instead full of secrets of the Titans.
The seconds would be some sort of shaping tool or a big 'reset' button for the planet, pulling the trigger of the old gods and rebooting the entire thing. It's probably there for convenience or remote activation if the titans get the Algalon signal.

Dare I say that would be... epic? Or perhaps legendary.

An old god.

Could be a fragment(s) of the demonsoul, perhaps he's attempting to reconstruct it. Though I doubt he'll ever get it as powerful as before, with the aspect's powers re-intact.
Nick Aug 29th 2009 8:21AM
I'm gonna have to go with the giant landscaping tool. Blizz is slowly integrating more aspects of the Sims into the game, and Deathwing should have more ways to customize his zones (aside from setting them on fire). I bet we'll see user-made wallpaper and floors in patch 4.1, and new professions such as Doctor and Policeman in the expansion after Cataclysm.
