Video of the Hogger live raid at BlizzCon
Michael Gray mentioned it in his writeup of the Premonition live raid at BlizzCon 2009, but this is a moment so epic it's worth mentioning again, and now that there's video online, you can see it: in the final fight, none other than Hogger appeared to take on one of the best guilds in the game. And this was no mere Hogger, nor even the slightly-more-powerful Memory of Hogger seen in the Trial of Champions. No no -- this thing was a foul raid boss from the bowls of Deepholm, a one-shotting maniac that couldn't be controlled even by the best tank. As you can see in the video above, he charges like an angry Rhino -- he was originally pulled by a Hunter who was then one-shot so fast the aggro table cleared and Hogger reset instantly. And after the raid changed their collective pants, they took him on again, and it was all over but the Gnoll snickering.
He was immune to taunt, and he appeared to just pick a target at random, pinging around the raid like Batman beating up bad guys in his recent videogame. He only had about 600 hit points (some say 666, which would make sense), but he was immune to damage, or at least all forms of damage that Premonition tried to throw at him. In the end, even though they'd beaten Thaddius, Anub'Rekhan, and Patchwerk all at once, this level 80 Heroic version of Hogger was the one who wiped them. I saw Ozzy do War Pigs, but this Hogger fight was probably the most epic thing I saw in Anaheim last weekend.

lmao he's immune to taunt AND damage? How the heck are you supposed to beat him?
Tim Aug 29th 2009 12:15PM
You don't.

After engaging Hogger, you must have a Shadow Priest stand 12 feet away from him, then press: W, S, W, A, A, 1, 0, 0, S.
At the same time, your 8 (required) Shamen must all drop the same 4 totems within 3 seconds of each other, and then do the /train emote.
Finally, you have to have a Balance Druid spamming Rank 1 Moonfire on Hogger. When the 17th Moonfire hits, you have a 1 second window to do up to (but not over) 100 damage.
Repeat until Hogger is dead. Quite simple really.

Actually, the only thing he's not immune to is...
Hunter melee.

In other news, the entire event seen from the side of a premonition rogue can be streamed at http://www.livestream.com/pinchy (Just select "on demand" in the bottom left corner".
It can also be downloaded at http://www.filefront.com/14359967/premo-blizzcon.flv/
It features 1337 rogue dps (but not "avoid the sleepy clouds" skill), and the entire ventrilo conversation from start to finish. (Yes, the Ventrilo conversation the Premontion raid were having from before they even entered the instance to 15 minutes after they had been pwnt by hogger and the event was over)
Thanks to Arlen for the original link.
(I know i know this isn't related to the comments above, but I just want as many people to know that this exists, as there have been some later comments about "oh how I would have wished to hear what they were saying" etc etc.. )

They prolly would have killed him if they would have given them another try or 2.

I still think it was because they are an alliance guild. Never had a problem with Hogger on my Horde characters.

Absolutely hilarious. The ultimate raid boss.
joel Aug 29th 2009 12:14PM
Oh god, Hogger's gottan A LOT stronger since i downed him at 10.
I'm affraid. D:
DigitalMonitor Aug 29th 2009 12:36PM
I don't think he's gotten a lot stronger. That's just the way I remember him owning our group back in the day.
T.T. Aug 29th 2009 1:23PM
I think he just must have levelled up quite a few times from the millions of people he has killed. The "killed by Hogger" statistic was there simply to lure high level players there to be killed by him, so he could get more levels and continue on his path for WORLD DOMINATION!
Noctalus Aug 29th 2009 12:18PM
/slap. That would probably do it.
Kajira Aug 29th 2009 1:27PM
It would have been very funny if his defeat was brought about by a frustrated raider's emote.
Volaro Aug 29th 2009 12:18PM
This needs to go live. Give him a 99% damage reduction instead of 100% :p
Sedirex Aug 29th 2009 12:20PM
Is anyone else really disappointed that the best Blizzard could throw at them was a boring one-shotting machine? Besides how played out the stupid Hogger meme has become (OMGZ ITS HOGGER LOLOLOL), It simply would have been more interesting to have a unique, yet ultimately un-winnable, raid encounter, not that ghoul in P1 of the Black Knight with a new skin and his damage turned up (not to mention the insult to raiders that was his immunity to damage).
