Scheduled maintenance for Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Topping tonight's list of things over which to get your knickers in a twist, Blizzard announced its weekly scheduled Tuesday maintenance window for US realms tonight. Some realms, under the cut, will have an extended maintenance period, ostensibly to complete the new server hardware additions that alleviate or resolve instance-launching errors. Good news for everyone -- even us, because maybe now we'll stop getting tips about it!
Maintenance will begin for most realms from Tuesday, September 1 at 3 AM PDT/6 AM EDT and conclude at 11 AM PDT/2 PM EDT.
For realms under the cut, extended maintenance will run from 12:01am PDT/3 AM EDT and end at approximately 11:59am PDT/2:59 PM EDT. In the meantime, you can check out our Cataclysm coverage, read up on Goblins or Worgen, emote beleaguered sighs to @WoWInsider on Twitter, or read the list of realms below, which may take you just as long.

Michael, one of you reported from one of the Blizzcon forums that Blizzard had plans to 'improve service to [their] Oceanic customers'. Any specifics? How? WHEN??

Both of my servers that I spend my time on are on the list... unfair! I suppose I'll finally pick out an RP server like I've been meaning to :)

I've never had luck trying to roll on a RP server, its like everyone is too caught up in their own worlds or in goldshire spamming /moans and /groans... makes rolling a new char on a RP server difficult...pity I've always wanted to do in game RPing.

We moved from Darrowmere (a super low pop server with maybe twenty people on at peak time - in Dalaran) to Laughing Skull to actually see other people in the game. Ever since April (3.1) we've basically never been able to run anything ever without spending half a freaking hour trying to get in.
We're on the list to get "fixed" today. All I can say is, if this doesn't actually fix our problem, F Blizzard. F them in the A.

my server, earthen ring is an RP server and it is on that list. and thats fabulous because
it would take us half an hour or more to get in anywhere. we spend an
hour and a half the other day trying to run a classing AQ40 raid. I
wont believe it until I see it, but if these fixes do go through, why
on earth would you be upset about a few hour setback?

I'm pleased that they're fixing the instance troubles for many realms tomorrow, including mine. I'm also pleased that they front-loaded the downtime so I can play earlier tomorrow.

Yes.. it's just gotten worse, sometimes you can't even get into the heroic daily. Watching guilds try to get into ulduar is sad too.

Seriously, I've been waiting to see my server on the list and plan to /spit on anyone I hear complaining about the additional downtime when servers come back up. I'm not even going to gripe if they are down the entire day, as long as the door boss is obliterated.

Looks like maintenance is scheduled to begin earlier on the realms slated for extended maintenance. That's a new trick. I wish they'd started doing it years ago.

True that, however they did say at Blizzcon that a separate maintenance time for Oceanic servers is anticipated. I just hope it's implemented sooner rather than later.
