WoW Moviewatch: In Memory: Retribution
We covered the In Memory: Retribution final trailer back in May. At the time, we were impressed by the hints we could see in the trailer about the epic content of the final movie. But, as with many trailers, we were unconvinced that the final product would ever materialize. Thus, I'm incredibly happy to feature the final movie today. Click here to check out In Memory: Retribution by Necka.
This movie is huge. It's probably one of the longest and most thorough machinima presentations I can remember seeing. The camera work and voice acting are all perfectly suited to the story, and the sweeping narrative is thorough and world-changing. The story is based on the fall of Illidan, and I feel like the action really gets started when a troll sorrowfully admits his own part in the fate of the Betrayer.
This movie is definitely worth watching. Like I said, however, it's pretty long -- be sure to leave yourself an hour or so to watch it all. There are a few places you may need to back up, if your stream gets interrupted.
Click here to see it for yourself. This link provides an option to stream or download the video.

I thought it was just me. Hopefully it's fixed soon, the lead up was so tempting.

I have some constructive critasisum in the form of my latest artical on Myndflame's site

I had alot to say about this movie, and it's all there. But if you're reading comments you probably want the short story: I think Necka has completly missed the dart bord, broken a few beer glasses, and hit me in the eye with a dart.

Oh, and I have a working high quality stream.
*Digs around for it*

The fact that you can't spell criticism, board, or completely, leaves your credibility a lot to be desired.
ZuWHowho Aug 31st 2009 12:32PM
Sorry, that's not working either.

@ Whowho
About that rant. "Do not make a sequel" -- how can telling someone to quit be seen as constructive criticism?

Should be a working link to the movie. :)

You also can't spell 'article' or 'a lot' (hint: it's two words).
You also seem to lack a general understanding of what the words that you are typing actually mean.
Just a bit of constructive criticism for you ;D

Haha, Okay I'll shape up next time ^^

I completely disagree, it was amazing. Especially the little jokes during the credits. I also enjoyed the longness of it. I wish it focused more on the Alliance, and one of the Tauren had an annoying voice, but other than that it was good. Another problem was that it did make the Alliance look evil, like when they attacked them on the way to kill Kel'Thuzad. Whereas, in game you hear Horde soldiers bragging about ambushing Alliance soldiers while they were fighting the Scourge.

Wow, an hour to watch the video? I'll do it when I'm not at work then lol. But lets hope it actually works when I get home. Looking forward to it.

The movie is out of tune, lore-wise. You cannot make a movie combining story lines from Burning Crusade with the Wrath of the Lich King. And why would the Lich King want the Skull of Gul'Dan anyway? The skull is useless without it's powers, which Illidan consumed. Lore-wise, the skull is carried around by players anyway as a some-what powerful trinket. I really hated the movie. Normally I love all kinds of Machinima, but I hate this one for pretending to be something it was: a good and epic movie.
By the way, why are all movies about battles and the Lich King after Tales of the Past III? Flame me on, I stand by what I mean and it's a free country (at least it is where I live.) I hope the sequel is much better than this utter garbage. He needs to fix up his storyline right from the beginning, it went too fast and I couldn't quite follow it.

I got halfway through before the video stopped streaming and I’m not sure if I really feel like finishing this film.
The lich king blows up outlands? How? It’s halfway across the universe.
The effects are good and the voice acting is commendable, but I feel this script needs serious work. It’s slow to pick up and the dialogue just feels stiff, slow and redundant. It’s obviously also a very horde-centric video, which I would be willing to bear with if the Alliance weren’t so openly portrayed as a bunch of cry-babies. Running in retreat? Crying under tables in bars? Come on. Not to mention the fact that all of the Nethergarde (an alliance faction last time I checked) are more or less horde.
I’m going to finish watching this once its working again and post my final thoughts, but I got to say I’m not really impressed by the story right now.

Commendable? It was terrible.
If a film makes me comment on the voice acting in the middle of it, it's bad. Five minutes in I just thought "the broken accents and strained sentences ruin this"
And then I realized that with good machinima, you never even think about the voice acting. You get so immersed in the film that it just flows, this wasn't immersive or flowy in the slightest, it was a conglomeration of flashy effects with no storytelling.

None of the links are working..............
My will to watch video or even care now.................zero

The movie was a good piece of machinima. But it takes a bit too much from the actual game and cut scenes. We know what happens at Wrathgate.
Best part of the movie comes during the credits. Splat!
