i think if you are carring over faction rivalry to the extent you demand 1 to 1 parity in relation to fictional reading material you are probably taking things waaaaaaay too far.

apart from anything else most of the books you would refer to as 'Alliance' deal with faction neutral characters (Tirion, Medivh, Rhonin, Krasus, The Lich King and yes even Malfurion)

these books are written for Warcraft lore fans.

such fans aren't generally steeped in the playground like rivalries you are endorsing.
