Season three of The Guild launches on MSN Video
Everyone loves The Guild, the popular online series created by Felicia Day, especially us here at WoW.com, just check out the pictures from our BlizzCon meetup and the liveblog from The Guild panel. The third series kicked off in the wee small hours of this morning when the first episode went live on MSN Video and (for Gold members) Xbox Live. It looks like it's off to a cracking start as well, the Knights of Good are still in chaos after the final episode of season two. However Codex hopes that the release of a new expansion will mend the rifts between the guildies. You can check out the first episode above.
The trailer was released last week and promises a guild war! Yes, they've found their nemeses in the form of a hotter group of players called the Axis of Anarchy (led by geek heartthrob Wil Wheaton who makes his series debut). On top of that the personal lives of the guildies seem to be in meltdown with Bladezz in four grand of debt, Tink is avoiding him and Vork's feeling like he skipped out on his GM duties. Oh and Zaboo's got a girlfriend! Due to the deal with Xbox Live, it's going to be a while before The Guild hits YouTube so for now check out the MSN Video page to get your fix if you don't have a 360.

ITS AMAZING

Well let me be the first to say that it sucks and I'm getting really close to deleting my wow.com feed for shamelessly promoting this tripe.

@Spoonshark:
I seriously doubt that anyone will miss you when you're gone.
Buh-bye.

"The third series kicked off in the wee small hours of this morning when the first episode went live on MSN Video and (for Gold members) Xbox Live. "
Actually, the first episode has been on Xbox Live for a week now.

What's with using "Everyone loves" at the start of these posts. That's the second one you guys have used in a row. Please remember not everyone loves the same things. I personally think the guild is badly acted and over-rated, but that's just my opinion.

Wow.com clearly isn't interested in appealing to a wider audience. Apparently the only wow players they want to cater to fit the mold of the stereotypical nerd gamer. I'm sorry, but not all of us are fat lonely slobs with a hard on for any chick who is remotely attractive and remotely interested in gaming. Some wow players certainly are, and apparently they are the only ones who matter to wow.com.
I get it. Wow.com editors are that sort of wow player. That's fine and all, but you guys are shameless about pimping Felicia Day. It's embarrassing at this point. The Guild is only tangentially related to WoW. If anything it is related to MMO gaming in general, so if you are going to cover it shouldn't it be on Massively or something?

delete away... Spare us your angst-ridden diatribes, explaining to us all your tragic loss of a sense of humor.
Satire is a brilliant form of humor and The Guild is using it to lampoon a social segment that often gets any real attention in the entertainment industry. It's more insulting to see the Hollywood stereotypical nerd replayed in movies and tv shows repeatedly. At least Felicia and her crew are intentionally going over the top with their characters. It's like the nerd equivalent of The Office.
And to both Roy and Spooner, regardless of whether you like the show or not, WoW.com reports news about the world surrounding WoW. This show is clearly geared towards mmo gamers and without specific references, to wow players. So let them report about it and go somewhere else to complain.

"Everyone loves The Guild...."
No, everyone does not. Some do, quite a lot of people actually. But not everyone.

As a skinny, social homosexual who is not attracted to Felicia Day in that way, I would just like to make it known that I am not a fat slob living in my mom's basement and I still love the guild. As do many of my friends of the female gender. Stop stereotyping.
I tend to think that the people who don't like the guild are too afraid to admit how similar they are to the characters. It's too bad that people can't just relax and enjoy the comedy.
By the way, I know many non-gamers who love The Guild. If anything appeals to a "wider audience," it is The Guild. You seem to think the opposite is true. I know from experience that it is not. Plenty of non-gamers love The Guild.
You also seem to have trouble identifying why The Guild is related to WoW. It is more than "tangentially" related. It is about gamers. And gamers are the people who read WoW.com (I assume). So it is very related to WoW and the wider geek-culture surrounding it.

/facepalm *often gets NO real attention

@Graham
I like how you say "Stop stereotyping."
Then in the next sentence
"I tend to think that the people who don't like the guild are too afraid..."
***
I don't personally don't find the jokes that funny. That's why I don't like the show. Even though I love MMORPGs, I just don't enjoy The Guild at all.
That's my opinion. But doesn't mean I'm going to insult people for liking it. I can see why some people enjoy it. No reason to throw off personal attacks about "being sad".
All I'm trying to say is, I should be allowed not to like the show and say why I don't, as long as I'm fair about it.
I watched a few episodes. It's just not for me.
Nick Sep 1st 2009 7:30PM
Spoonshark, you realise that The Guild is promoted on Worldofwarcraft.com, the site owned by the company that MAKES the game?
Graham Sep 2nd 2009 3:47AM
@Jari
A poorly worded sentence, perhaps. I don't think EVERYONE who doesn't like The Guild is afraid to see themselves in the characters, but I think it could explain why some people react to the show with such anger. What better way to shift attention from yourself than by calling someone ELSE a socially-inept basement-dweller?
So if the show is "just not for you," then I'm okay with that. I'm just astounded by the people who seem angry and upset whenever WoW.com mentions it....as if they have something personal against it.
Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.
Gessilea Sep 1st 2009 5:11PM
That's Secretary of Geek Affairs Wil Wheaton to you! Good day!
Chris Sep 1st 2009 5:14PM
Can Wesley Crusher help rebound this series from the atrocious season that was Season 2?
Let's find out.....
Nennutir Sep 1st 2009 5:17PM
OH MY GOD BEST CAMEO EVER.
Snark Sep 1st 2009 5:23PM
Why do people like the Guild again?
Spoonshark Sep 1st 2009 5:34PM
They are lonely and sad.
Nick Sep 1st 2009 7:28PM
Because Spoonshark hates the Guild so much he's made at least three comments on the same post about how much it sucks.
Spoonshark, you are sooooo cool, man!
Deathgodryuk Sep 2nd 2009 7:15AM
because we don't like you.
