Faction change service now available [UPDATED]

The faction change (accessed via your account management page), in addition to allowing you to flip from Horde to Alliance (and vice versa) also seems to include the ability to change anything else you could change through a character recustomization, such as a name change for the price of $30. We have some picture of the process incoming, so keep an eye on this spot. We'll have them put together for you in just a moment.
Update: And here are the images of the process. Enjoy!
Update #2: The faction change FAQ has some additional details you might find interesting. There are some mount/reputation restrictions when you switch over that you might want to be aware of before you drop your $30.

It took less than an hour for my troll to become a hot nelf the same afternoon this became available.

Actually it is a loss and its not an overreaction. Thousands and thousands of players will agree that its ridiculous. If you switch over at 80, you miss out on hundreds and hundreds of quests from a completely different perspective. I think its unfair that people can pay money to switch and skip everything that that particular race/faction offers.
No need to be hostile. Just because you are all sheep, doesnt mean you have to be ignorant with me.
You are the type of players that think you are so special by being 80, yet you have skipped tons and tons of the game and you are too dumb to even realize that, or how cheap a faction change really is.
I deal with players like you all the time. Blizzard cares more about money than keeping the games integrity. WOW started out as an MMORPG, now its becoming just a MMO.
Oh and if you have a problem with "seeing so and so" or "killing 10 boars" , then go play another game. The leveling process is fine and if you dont think its fun, just dont play.
There will always be fights between HORDe and ALLIANCE. Just like there will always be fights with players who love the game and respect what it is supposed to be like, and those that think getting to 80 is a race. Its ok though, the latter will end up quitting before the former, so one day, just maybe, the majority of a server will players that deserve to play, not the QQ babies that spammed the forums for year to get this ridiculousness to happen.
I'm speaking up for all the players that enjoy ALL of WOW, not just the bits and pieces they choose to abuse like some of you. Enjoy the faction changes while it lasts. I wont be the only one ignoring any1 that has made the change. You will see.
Oh and regards to "its a game, play to relax..." I know its a game and I do play to relax. But even a game shouldnt be ripped apart and abused, just to appease the whiney players that will eventually destroy the wow we knew from the beginning. Tsk Tsk

Someone who's got a 60+ on both sides has played through a majority of the faction content. They've paid their dues.

i'm not even going to argue with you, despite the fact that i disagree with pretty much everything you've said. All i want to say is:
You make me sad. Why do you hate everyone else so much?

Wow, that's quite the manifesto there on "real" WoW players vs. the wannabes.
First you tell us how much people will miss out on by changing factions, and then go on to say it is unfair because they're missing out on it... unfair to whom, exactly? If they are missing out, that implies that they have less than those who didn't miss out. By your logic, we can conclude that they’re paying to be unfair to themselves. And that bothers you, why, exactly?
"Just because you are all sheep, doesnt mean you have to be ignorant with me."
Oh, I'm sure plenty of the “sheep” don't want to be ignorant with you. You seem to be doing a fine job of that all on your own.
Question for you: What about people who have leveled both sides, smelling the roses along the way, and just want to change sides to play with a friend or family member? Shall I start yet another alt, and do the same content for the 10th time?
That doesn’t fit into your condescending generalization, but by all means, don't let that stop you from ranting about something that impacts your enjoyment playing the game not in the slightest bit. Preach on, brother, from up high on your mountain, where only the l33t few, like you, of course, belong.
By the way, it's "anyone" not "any1". If you're going to be a condescending *$&, criticizing other people's choices, you might as well make sure your own house is in order first.

Why is this such big deal? If someone wants to switch factions they have every right. It's their 15 bucks a month and 30 bucks to switch. They aren't borrowing it from anyone or mugged you for it. Blizzard is giving people a choice. I for one want to switch either my druid and DK or my pally and DK over to the alliance. I just really like how NE's look.

After trying to faction transfer my rogue I just realised the out of game griefing potential of this. You can't faction transfer with mail in your inbox. You also can't transfer unless you haven't logged in that character for 20 minutes. Therefore you can prevent someone from transferring by sending them mail occasionally.

Most traitors are traitors because they are getting paid, or some other benefit. Becoming a traitor and paying for it yourself? Now, THAT'S devotion.

ok, 3 characters to transfer to the horde (2 80s, 1 72) 90$, and 3 (different) horde to transfer to that server (1 70, 1 80 and 1 50ish) 75$. So 165$ to consolidate my account. Ouch. LoL But I m gonna do it. That, that s like a day of work.
