Faction change service now available [UPDATED]

Our tipline just lit up with news that the faction change service discussed so often recently is now available! At least in the US, anyway. One of our super secret to-be-announced new bloggers from the EU mentioned that he doesn't see it overseas yet, but Rogue specialist Chase Christian is already swapping his Rogue over. Hopefully Europe will have it very soon.

The faction change (accessed via your account management page), in addition to allowing you to flip from Horde to Alliance (and vice versa) also seems to include the ability to change anything else you could change through a character recustomization, such as a name change for the price of $30. We have some picture of the process incoming, so keep an eye on this spot. We'll have them put together for you in just a moment.

Update #2: The faction change FAQ has some additional details you might find interesting. There are some mount/reputation restrictions when you switch over that you might want to be aware of before you drop your $30.

Quick question, I was going through the website and so...you can now change races to a different faction, but still can't change races within your own faction?

Can I use this service to change race on my existing faction?

No. We will be releasing a Race Change service in the near future for this purpose.

I can't imagine the volume of applications, probably in the 10s of thousands. Sadly I put in my request about 12:50 last night and it's still pending.

Hopefully it goes through today.

Well, I am jealous of you, @Garidon. :-) I am STILL waiting. I started at probably 10-11 last night... it has been over 12 hours. It wouldn't be so bad, if the page would CHANGE... it looks like it is sitting there, waiting for something. :-(

so does any have any idea what alliance races coincide w/ what horde races?

e.g... night elf hunter -> blood elf hunter, troll hunter, etc...

Any race on the other faction that has that class as rollable.

My suggestion to anyone considering this is to save your money and just reroll when the expansion comes out (Q2 2010 or whenever). $30 for a simple database change for a 5 year old game that still charges a subscription of $15 per month is just gouging the addicted players.
