With the heroic versions of Trial of the Crusader going live yesterday, raiding guilds are already venturing into the more challenging versions of Tier 9. As of evening Tuesday EST, the European guild
For the Horde has claimed a world-first
A Tribute to Insanity-10 (a no-wipe full clear of the instance) on 10-man heroic Trial. Unfortunately, I don't speak German so I might be missing some of the finer points related on
their website (anyone who can shed more light on this, please drop a comment!) but it looks like they weren't deliberately aiming for the achievement until they reached
Anub'arak with all 50 attempts remaining, and then decided to go for it. Next in achievement progression?
A Tribute to Dedicated Insanity -- repeating it without any gear from 25-man ToC, which is broadly equivalent to the
Herald of the Titans achievement. Ouch.
Boubouille at
MMO Champion has since confirmed that the
Swift Horde Wolf and its Alliance counterpart the
Swift Alliance Steed are drops from the tribute chest upon completion of the no-wipe clear, and it's quite possible that the mounts also drop from the 25-man version as well. However, I doubt we'll be seeing
A Tribute to Insanity-25 this week, as none of the guilds doing the heroic-25 mode have reported a wipe-free experience thus far.
We'll keep an eye on guild progression for you, and congratulations to For the Horde!

Is it just me or are world firsts usually Horde side?

It's not a coincidence. For the Horde!

I love how the world first goes to a horde faction guild called For The Horde.....with someone shapeshifted to a gnome in the pic :D

Aw, I was hoping a US guild would be first to this after Premonition got Tribute to Mad Skill before EU realms even had the patch. Seems like the US is always just a little behind EU and Asian realms. Oh, well, I guess there's still the 25 man.

No they say they tried Trail 10 instead of the 25 version to check whats going on there.
..and they were a bit nervous during the Anub kill with still 50 attempts remaining.

Here's what babelfish said they said El Oh El:
This is A of tributes ton the Best song - naja, nearly! The Grand Trial OF the Crusader went today for the European Union-Realms live - instead of us neck overhead into the 25Mann-Version to throw we geschnuppert first times carefully, which goes here at all in such a way. That noticed before all also the good Anub, when we with " 50 Attempts Left" at its cage back rumgeschnuppert and it then appropiately and with something excitement niedergezerg… divided.
Tamednan Sep 3rd 2009 3:40PM
"instead of us neck overhead"
Good thing they weren't neck overhead, that would just be uncomfortable.
Rubitard Sep 3rd 2009 3:51PM
@Tamednan
Well, when you are with something excitement, neck overhead really wouldn't yet as being a problems.
Tamednan Sep 3rd 2009 3:58PM
Touché

Wow, that's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time, thank you for making my day :D

Translation of the article concerning the achievement itself:
This is a Tribute to the Best Song - well, almost! The Grand Trial of the Crusader went live today on EU-Realms. Instead of diving into the 25-man verison head first, we carefully tried to get a glimpse of the situation (rough translation). Especially Anub'arak got to experience this, when we sneaked up to his butt, having 50 attempts left, and quite excitedly zerged- err, bashed him down.
As you can see, you already covered the main circumstances of this world-first :)

For the Alliance... :(
But seriously, good job to them. Must have been very hard to do it with no wipes at all. I can only imagine.
jjcoola998 Sep 4th 2009 3:46PM
You sir, are and idiot :3
Ed Sep 3rd 2009 3:41PM
The Gnome has no guild, does this count as a guild first?
Ed Sep 3rd 2009 3:49PM
Make that both the gnome on the right and the human in the middle have no Guild, both pugs. Where I come from this counts as a PUG raid not a Guild Achievement.
Ed Sep 3rd 2009 3:51PM
Nevermind - i'm an idiot. lol
Thubbe Sep 3rd 2009 3:53PM
I seriusly hope you're joking.
