Patch 3.2.2: Timear Foresees Sons of Hodir reputation in your future!

I've already completed the Sons of Hodir rep grind on my main, so this isn't particularly helpful there. However, I'm going to love it on my alts. I shined enough spears or whatever to last me a lifetime, and any way to avoid it that doesn't involve buying thousands of Relics of Ulduar is fine by me. I'm glad to see these quests get a little bit of love too, because I've been throwing away all sorts of commendations for the last few months simply because I'm already exalted with everything. Yes, even on my alt. It's really not hard if you remember to wear your tabard! Throwing away all of those commendations felt a little like flushing time down the toilet, so hopefully this will alleviate that a little and make it so the Emblem of Conquest isn't the only draw these quests have anymore.

I couldn't help but notice that neither Argent Crusade nor Wyrmrest Accord badges are in the screenshot.
Theldaris Sep 3rd 2009 10:25AM
They;re both there under the window for the hodir rep tooltip
macster Sep 3rd 2009 10:28AM
If you're describing anything in the game as "work", I'd say you have a problem. Getting Hodir rep wasn't hard - just a dull and repetitive grind. This change makes it less so - what' s to whine about?
Arraph Sep 3rd 2009 10:54AM
Actually they both are in the screenshot as well, it'j just that they're covered by the tooltip.
t0xic Sep 3rd 2009 10:19AM
"great more bads getting things we worked hard for."
What?? How hard is it, really? Don't even get me started on "bads". The only "bads" are the people using that term.
Cry me a freaking river...
xoonaka Sep 3rd 2009 10:23AM
Bigger question is.. does this mean a Hodir tabard? Cause that would be awesome.
macster Sep 3rd 2009 10:30AM
"Hodir would like you to wear this special tabard. Just for him. Giggity."
dacamper Sep 3rd 2009 10:35AM
Now I've read this, I'm really hoping Blizz have added a Hodir tabard on the PTR. Can someone go check pretty please?
sprout_daddy Sep 3rd 2009 10:23AM
That's some might e-peen you're showing us there, with your bad-ass Hodir rep grind. It must have taken a lot of skill.
It's a convenience issue, and involves more skill killing instanced mobs than the same-level world trash, with lower rewards per day.
jealouspirate Sep 3rd 2009 10:43AM
You threw snow on hot pieces of metal every day for HOW long?! Dang, you got skillz, brah!
As a 'casual', I'll never get to exalted. I can pick up the ice but I'm having trouble right-clicking on the metal pieces.
WoWie Zowie Sep 3rd 2009 11:07AM
rejoice!
i wasnt planning on my alts getting exalted due to the time and/or gold costs. now my lolDK can run a dungeon for rep and gold and turn this in for hodir and it wont feel so grindy because it will be like 3 birds one stone.

I wonder if Blizzard would ever create an item just called "Commendation Badge" that would let you raise any reputation by 500 as long as you are at neutral or better with said reputation.
t0xic Sep 3rd 2009 11:11AM
@jealouspirate:
I saw a video on tankspot where they did the hodir dailies HARD MODE with a 25 man raid. There was snow and metal EVERYWHERE! People were standing in void zones and fire... AT THE SAME TIME! It was total mayhem.
Valt Sep 3rd 2009 11:12AM
I wonder can I get exalted with Hodir even without doing the quest line now?
Oh well. Its still best level up method for me. Everytime I get to 77 I go "hodir questline" then do Oracles questline and finally AT dailies. Good way to get to 80 while getting money.
Darkthunder Sep 3rd 2009 11:36AM
If they add the +500 rep commendation badge for Sons of Hodir, it would be nice if they also added the ability to "Champion" for them, in order to make the reputation grind less of an arduous ordeal.
Dude Sep 3rd 2009 11:43AM
Son of a bitch! I paid a small fortune for relics to pay for that rep. Arrrrrpfffffffffft!
Birdfall Sep 3rd 2009 12:38PM
/sigh at them not doing it sooner
Oh well. It might help me top off the rep, since I'm so slow.
It's a good change, though late in the game.

I kinda don't understand the point of this (though, grats for those of you who will benefit from this ). I thought the dungeon rinse/repeat already had perks via the tabards people could wear. How about also implementing a method for people who DON'T farm their rep in dungeons?
If you try to max out all these reps outside of dungeons (except for the Sons of Hodir, no tabard so its the same for everyone. )... It takes a very very long time. And by a long time, i mean many many months.
Even if Blizzard has some sort of hatred for people who wish to avoid the Dungeon grind, dosn't that seem a little extreme for it to take so long?

"Even if Blizzard has some sort of hatred for people who wish to avoid the Dungeon grind, dosn't that seem a little extreme for it to take so long?"
Blizz wants you to run dungeons. They're throwing gold, badges, fame, and women to anyone that will run dungeons (okay, maybe not fame). People's jobs are on the line! Do the right thing.
A little too much caffeine, but the point is I think the INCENTIVE is to run dungeons for rep with tabards. If you choose to avoid dungeons then you lose the incentive. It's that simple. They really leave it up to you to decide... WoW is the game of many choices.

Sorry if this has been addressed in a previous thread but on the normal realms the Badges only grant 250 rep, are they changing to 500 for all factions???
