I'd transfer if Blizzard got less greedy and charged less or made a server xfer part of it.

People accusing Blizzard of greed need to realize that there are reasons they charge for these services. The first is obvious: they want to limit the number of transfers. If a faction transfer only cost 5 bucks, it would increase the number of transfers tenfold (if nothing else because people would be more willing to transfer all their alts as well.)But the most important reason is because transferring these characters takes A LOT OF WORK. They need to assign some customer support representative to go into the database and change all a person's reputations, mounts, factions, etc. etc. They don't just flick a switch and it's done. I wouldn't be surprised if it took over an hour for each faction transfer, and you have to be paying someone for that time. That's the reason they didn't give people a 'break' and combine faction + server transfers. Because then you'd be paying someone the same amount for doing twice as much work.Bottom line: remember that Blizzard doesn't have to offer these services. They're doing so in order to support their customers. Like every other service in this society, you have to pay them for it. Whining about it is like complaining that you have to pay for groceries, a taxi, or a moving company to pick up your stuff and move it across the country.

@Chro - you're telling me they don't have an automated way to do it? I don't believe that - this kind of process is ripe for automation; it'd be crazy not to.

I agree, $55 is way too much. Blizzard has plenty of subscribers (11 million?) and should be able to make it lower than that. I dont believe it really takes a "LOT OF WORK" like the guy who replied to this comment, but who knows? Nobody knows except the Blizzard employees who deal with it really. I still doubt its all that difficult if they have a process in place for doing so, which they do since they are selling it. I guess im just a cheap jerk because to me $30 is too much. I would probably just level a character to 80 on a new server before paying that kind of money. On a side note I found it odd that so many people wanted to be a Blood Elf if they moved to the Horde.

chro is half-right...it's to discourage people just using it wantonly, but it is most likely an automated process. if they reduced the price, they would most likely make MORE money off of it. they just don't want everybody and their sisters transferring on a whim. it's priced just enough to discourage wholesale faction and server transfers.

It's pretty common sense that all the services are automated since it wouldn't be feasible to have people look each one over.
