Crygil has the official word:
Blizzard has completed their updates to the servers, and they are now saying performance is much better: all realms have "shown an improvement in instance performance as well as a noticeable reduction in the amount of players hitting the instance limit." Note that they don't say the issues have been solved (no one would say that everything was fixed, because
it never is), but there should be a marked improvements in the "additional instances" bug. In the immortal words of the great Douglas Adams, "We have normality. I repeat, we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem."
And we're sure lots of players will welcome this news. At least until
Cataclysm, when the flood of rerollers and
werewolf fanatics taking on all of the new content and areas in the old world brings the servers back to their knees once again. But until then, enjoy your runs.

Awesome! Now we won't have a problem getting into Naxx today! (PS, Epic Douglas Adams quote usage!)
Misha Sep 5th 2009 4:14PM
Yep! It's been great this week being able to actually get into instances. Thanks, Blizz!! Wished you would have put a battleground type queue in when you set the limit, so that we didn't waste so much time at the door--but it's such a relief now to have it work. Woot!

Finally downed the door boss.... only to find he had no loot?
Elune Sep 6th 2009 12:22PM
This must be a "US"only thing as I spent a good 25 mins, wiping on the Door boss on our server "Darkspear - EU"
Rin Sep 5th 2009 4:22PM
Hurray!
I mean, I can almost guarentee that this problem will appear again every time you're on a PvP server and you try running from a group of the opposite faction into an instance, but still, hurray!
GothicRebel Sep 5th 2009 4:26PM
Does this include EU Servers ?
NeSuKuN Sep 5th 2009 4:30PM
Nope, european servers are WiP still
Deadlock Sep 6th 2009 7:26AM
No, remember when WoW insider says "All realms are going down" or "All the realms have been fixed" they actually mean "All American Realms" because like, the rest of the world doesn't exist. EU Realms are still utterly broken.
slyman.is.god Sep 5th 2009 4:28PM
yep, they are actually working, finally. Thank u blizz ;_;

Since they fixed Gorefiend, I haven't gotten a single "Additional Instances cannot be launched" error while attempting to zone into an instance, and I've had no lag. Normally when I was grinding my CE rep on my druid, I would have gotten it several times attempting to zone into Steamvaults, but not now.
Tis nice!

Yeah, I haven't got the error for a while now, since they fixed my server. Seeing as mine is a high-pop one, I'd say it worked pretty well.

The Auction House is also noticeably faster for me.

And browsing the armory with Safary feels noticebly snappier! ;-)

Yes!!! Glad to hear this! I will have to try some dungeons tonight!

If only i hadn't lost my interest in 5-mans like 3 days ago....

Unless they increased the realm populations significantly, or were already linking new realms to old realm instance servers, it seems unlikely that the number of people running instances rose significantly. More likely, I think, is that they gave us a lame excuse rather than reveal trade secrets, and then got lazy about fixing the real problem. For some servers, the errors have been slowly increasing since early in the expansion till the latest maintenance. My server, for example, was virtually blocked from instances for 12 hours a day, even when a survey of instances on horde and alli showed relatively few people; only about half dozen 25 raids, dozen 10 mans, and maybe 3 or 4 dozen 5 mans. This is much fewer than BC or earlier in WLK.
