Upper Deck has posted on their site that they have
canceled the upcoming Darkmoon Faire event in France for the TCG. They've been having events all over the world of this kind, featuring tournaments, exhibitions, and interaction with the game's officials and designers (I checked out one such event
when it was in Chicago last year). And while they had planned to hold a Faire in Paris in 2009, apparently it's not going to happen -- they say there was "complications" with the "venue," and the event has been shut down. They are still trying to come to France, however: they're hoping to hold an event called the Tournois du Voile d'Hiver ("Tournament of Winter's Veil" in English) in Toulouse in November.
And this really does just look like a schedule conflict, as they are still holding events in Amsterdam, Austin, and Vegas later on in 2009, and from what we've seen at various conventions this year, Upper Deck's
WoW-related TCG and minis games are bigger than ever (in fact, given what I saw
at Gen Con and have heard from various UD employees, it's possible that the
WoW games are the company's biggest-selling non-sports product). They're planning to bring the Darkmoon Faire back to Paris next year, and that's probably exactly what they'll do.

I always I have to remember myself how I love playing WoW, how I love reading articles on WoW.com and the WoW's community when I read some retarded comments like this one.

What did France ever do to you? Did they come to your house in the middle of the night and ask you to play hop scotch? Did they force you to try some of their French cuisine that was badly burned? Or did they ask you to watch a boring french film?
None of the above?
Well then I sir am appalled at your comment for no reason whatsoever!

Might be too late for those who don't know, but I'll tip my hat to the people who make it - The event in Amsterdam is THIS WEEKEND. 12th & 13th of September.
Wish I had the weekend off.

I got a tiny heart attack when I saw the title and I thought; WHAT THE HELL DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH AN HOTEL IN AMSTERDAM COSTS AND NOW YOU JUST CANCEL THIS CRAP THREE DAYS IN ADVANCE WHAT THE FIG IS UP WITH THAT.
Then I read the article and thought; Ow... erm... *blushes*
So yes, going this weekend to the Upper Deck thing! Have never done it before so quite curious to see what it will be like.
SarahTheGnome Sep 8th 2009 4:59AM
Ow! And a side-note, because I know people at wowinsider like to nitpick. Yes, I know there is France in the title but when the mind makes assumptions like a moron, it often misses words that could negate said assumptions.

"complications" = the French
raingod Sep 7th 2009 11:06PM
Complications or not, the French were still largely responsible for helping us win the Revolutionary War. The fact it took them so long long to send troops, well.....
tattoosrock Sep 8th 2009 12:03AM
Ty for all the help during WW2.....................ohh wait a sec
sankto Sep 8th 2009 10:02AM
What's up with all the racism?
You know you shouldn't judge a whole group of people only by what they have did (or not) in a war? Most of us didn't even contributed to it...
Or wasn't even born. Heck, my father wasn't born when the war ended, gimme a break !
martosubs Sep 9th 2009 2:54AM
Em have you guys heard of the French Resistance during the WW2 and how many French national died fighting to liberate their country?
Yeah, engage your brain before posting comments like these.
Poor form.

French bashing is so very easy, it takes no skill whatsoever
Deadlock Sep 8th 2009 3:35AM
WoW Insider is recognising something happening outside the US? Holy crap!
Lynnora Sep 8th 2009 5:40AM
I am going to Amsterdam this weekend as I live near. How many others are going?
I don't play the TCG so I hope it'll be a bit of fun for a WoW-girl without cards too. Otherwise I'll just go visit my family :)
