my guild raids using a relatively fair system, albeit seemingly a bit puggish:

Main spec- the spec you used for that fight unless specifically asked to change specs before the encounter

Off spec- whatever else you can do with your toon.

main spec always rolls first, if nobody rolls then off spec rolls. nobody wants it, it gets disenchanted.

sometimes we use main spec as what you usually do but not often.

to add to my guild's loot rules, you can only win 1 piece of gear from a boss for main spec and unlimited for off spec so as to keep the same person from getting a large amount of loot
