I leveled Holy Paladin. I can now tank, heal, and dps solidly, in quest greens and blues at 80. I purchased my dual-spec at 78, and proceeded to finish the last two levels out as Holy anyway. Some of us don't enjoy FOTM, or Faceroll, or Easymode, or massive DPS, or infinite survivability (ironically, plate mail alone can't keep you alive forever) or... the list goes on. I wanted a challenge, so I leveled my main Holy. I don't regret it. I learned one heck of a lot about maximizing output with what you have, using the environment to my advantage, carefully planning out optimal battle routes, kiting, crowd control, damage rotations, when to use what heal to maximize healing and minimize mana usage, when I could afford to use Holy Shock for DPSing and when I needed to be able to healing myself with it... I could go on and on.If that makes me a retard, then hand me a helmet and point me to the seat behind the warrior tank who gives me, a plate-wearing class (but still squishy), Vigilance, and next to the druid who's not so busy throwing up HoTs that he doesn't notice I'm running low on mana and innervates me without being asked.
