Question for the Queue:When will you get a warrior columnist who isn't just feeling his way around when it comes to protection and arms?
9-09-2009 @ 4:09PM
Probably around the same time that they find a warlock columnist that actually knows each warlock spec and posts more than once every two months.

I was just thinking the other day that with BRK gone, there is a big hole in the hunter community. The columnist that posts here... Scattered Shots... yah she doesn't post very often either. :(

When the poster for "the light and how to swing it" posts something irrelevant to the up-coming patch.

I'm a mage, and we have the best columnist ever.

Maybe when Allison Robert.... Oh wait never mind I love our Druid writer!

Whatchoo talkin' about? Rossi's been slamming faces in with shields since before most of us even knew protection wasn't just something your girlfriend keeps bugging you about...
9-09-2009 @ 4:46PM
Goob, you're a noob! You really don't like Rossi? I don't even play a warrior and I look forward to his Care and Feeding every week.

Don't get me wrong, he's a good writer, but he has led me astray many times in my younger 80 days when I took some of the target numbers in his articles as THE TRUTH.When an article begins something like "So, I tried arms today..." that's not what I'm looking for in an article I'm hoping to learn from.I think what I'm really looking for is a dedicated warrior tank columnist. Someone who is prot MAIN SPEC./endconvo

sadistic4, "irrelevant" means what you think it does. the word you were aiming for was "relevant."
9-09-2009 @ 5:35PM
...really? So, since Rossi doesn't solely write about the class + spec YOU care about, he's a bad writer?Cool. Cool.In all fairness, I would like to see, perhaps, a tanking column in particular. I'm assuming this is what you meant other than "ROSSI SUX HE IZ NOT PROT QQ". As a Druid tank myself, I would like to see someone who has experience with all 4 tanking classes give a weekly (or so) column about tanks and all things to do with them. Please, don't be an ass. I understand that you're more interested in tanking than in DPS, but I'm willing to bet a LOT of money that a good number of warrior-players who frequent this site DON'T share your views, as foreign of an idea as that may be to you. If you're not interested in DPS, shocker, don't read the Care and Feeding posts that focus on DPS. Gasp.

Ok, I know the post he wrote above yours could possibly be considered long, but seriously, he wrote that he thinks he's a good writer in the VERY FIRST sentence. You only had to read the first 8 words to see that. He's just saying he'd appreciate a dedicated protection warrior.I don't play a warrior myself, so I couldn't ever tell if his advice was bad, although I do like to browse his column. Having a priest though, I can say it's very useful to have separate columnists for the healing and dps specs. I would imagine the same would be true for a class with a tanking and dps spec.He wasn't trying to be insulting and I don't even see how it came across that way. Especially since he clarified it further in his later post. Top to bottom, left to right, all the way through to the end. A tip on how to read posts and replies.

Yeah, but once you open the door to having multiple columnists for each hybrid class, it starts getting ridiculou. It's nice when writers go for a fresh perspective of the class, but there are plenty of other resources for other specs out there (which I'd wager the best WoW writers utilize when they're not in their comfort zone). I take these as very generalized articles on each class, not "The 'Elitist' Gospel according to Rossi". YMMV.

Mathew Rossi definitively knows the Protection spec well, he's a Tank since a long time.Arms.. well, he confessed Arms (Warrior) and Elemental (Shaman) are the specs he plays the less.

Tankspot.com is a pretty good alternate source for tanking. I think Ciderhelm (who manages tankspot and is a prot warrior himself) has a great selection of collums, guides, etc. Tankingtips.com may be good as well, but I don't have as much experience with that site.

You can certainly tell Rossi takes the time to read comments on his articles. He's so involved that he even deletes posts en masse if they don't agree with him and kiss his ass.
