WoW Moviewatch: How to win at PvP
I don't know if it's something about the mercurial impishness Wowcrendor lends to his videos, or if it's the playful and obvious love he has for the game. But, whatever that intangible quality might be, Wowcrendor's How to win at PvP is a soothing balm for an Alliance member who just can't figure out why they keep fighting on the road.
I liked the video, but it probably ran a little long overall. It could be split out into two different videos. One could have been a "common archetypes you meet in your BG raid" and the other would be "a guide to the different battlegrounds." I don't know. I had fun with each individual piece of the video, so I wouldn't advocate cutting anything out. But a satire that runs at 7 minutes will probably lose audience members by the end.
At the end of the day, I'm a fan of Wowcrendor, and am happy to see him develop this kind of style. It might be time to step up the pace a tad, however, as I think he has the talent to do a lot more.

I enjoyed that a lot. It was extremely cynical, and I wouldn't doubt it was done in a single afternoon after the creator lost a lot of BGs/Arenas, but it was funny and kept my interest for the whole 7 minutes, but that may have been the flashing lights and colors of my computer monitor.

I found this video condescending and useless.

There weren't enough flashing lights and shiny objects to keep my attention, but the first 27 seconds seemed OK.

Great video! Kept me entertained the whole 7 minutes. Pug BGs are full of people that either just want to play for fun, or AFKers.
I can't count that amount of times I had to go get the flag while holding the flag.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or you didn't get the satire.

Can't wait for rated battlegrounds so I can put these awesome tips to the test!

I'd say he got the description of Arena correct. It does rely heavily on Resilience and class combinations (if you're playing a class with low survivability and mediocre burst damage, e.g. a Hunter or Shaman, then good luck), and lacks skill. Yet it is (currently) the only place you can get Arena gear that isn't a full 2 seasons lower than what you get from BGs.
The reason why I agree is because there is a very large amount of class imabalance at the moment. Having played a Hunter in Arena, I've had the annoyance of a "dead zone", constantly being kited into it and being destroyed by huge melee burst.

The bigger brackets you get the less it relies on comp. In 5s you really can go in with any three DPS and any 2 heals and win. (Though Cleave/Wizard Cleave comps help just because the stacking).

Also, when's the last time you actually played arena? Both shamans and hunters are pretty solid now. (Granted, i always play with a rogue on my team, and hunts >>>> rogues. Lol)
Lemons Sep 11th 2009 3:42PM
Lol, dead zone? When's the last time you did arena? Patch 2.1? Pretty sure they got rid of that somewhere in BC.
Hunters are a lot more viable now...but only because Blizz gave them a reverse blink and a mini-divine shield...so now any retard that can manage to drag those two abilities onto his action bar can be "pro".
So basically...to make any ranged class viable just give them a mage ability and a bubble. Done.
Clbull Sep 11th 2009 6:35PM
@Lemons - I define the Dead Zone as the melee range zone where you cannot attack at all but with weak crappy melee attacks, and also the range where you are constantly slowed and snared into all the time, and can only escape by blowing restrictive CDs. Only Hunters are stuck with this restriction
Also, the "reverse blink" sucks on elevated terrain atm, and the mini divine shield is just plain stupid, because you can't attack at all, and can't deflect Holy, Area of Effect or physical ranged damage (like Arrows) unlike Paladins. You also don't become immune to everything.
@Charlie - I've been doing arena since Season 3. Hunters have been somewhat viable in Season 5 because they actually had some decent, reliable tools to get back into range like Glyph of Aspect of the Monkey, but then we had the overnerf of 3.1, which nerfed Explosive Shot (so it still doesn't compare to decent burst abilities like Frost Strike, Arcane Barrage or Heart Strike), and most of our pvp abilities.

After enjoying this, I watched his other two videos on how to play. Golden. :)

Anyone else find his voice really irritating?
Jason Sep 11th 2009 4:35PM
I did. It was so nasally >.>
slyman.is.god Sep 11th 2009 1:44PM
that was hilarious. I laughed a lot xD

The only major thing he forgot was PvP healing. Especially in the Battlegrounds. Healing is completely unacceptable... they're not called the Healygrounds for a reason.
