Around Azeroth: Obligatory weekend glitch screenshot
It's been a while since we had one of these, isn't it? Right? Right. Anyway, Veldugar of Hydraxis writes, "So my in-game graphics completely geeked yesterday and I spent a couple of hours flying around taking pics of all of the misplaced textures and just plain weirdness that happened. There are three things in this shot: me on my drake, the outline of the mountains and the sky. All of that craziness is what the entire sky ended up looking like in Icecrown. I have no idea where the tree branches came from since there aren't any trees in that zone."
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, gold seller ads with deadgnomes any race at all, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran.

I had to get in on the commenting on future posts, just once.
Sometimes glitches like this are the best thing that can happen to the game. I sounds sad, but some of the most fun I've had in wow is when the game explodes and starts acting completely unpredictable. One time the demons outside O'grila were friendly to my paladin. Who knows why!? Those occasional truly unexpected events are what I always remember, not the 13th time I killed Anub'arak and he dropped whatever.

Unfortunately I rarely if ever see cool glitches like this. The best two have probably been when I had just wiped in nexus (ah, the good old days where pally tanks wore ret gear and healers were incompotent, o_o moreso) and I rezed in Westfall which was a great annoyance because the rest of the group did also. That, and having Yogg-Saron use XT-002 Deconstructor's sound files instead of his own.

That must have been awesome.
Betherian Sep 14th 2009 2:09AM
Yes, it was awesome, unfortunately we didn't make it far into phase three before we wiped and Yogg-Saron returned to his normal soundfiles.

Where on earth did those button shapes come from?? I've never seen half the stuff in this shot. :P
ayalafatalis Sep 13th 2009 12:54PM
Those are the minimap buttons for other players, enemies or nodes being tracked or 'found'

I had this glitch once too, but with a completely different image, then i realized the image was from a movie i was watching. I assume it has something to do with the way the videocard manages things, when you change applications with alt-tab some areas doesn't get refreshed.
