Breakfast Topic: I love
But you know what? I'm a lover, not a fighter. Why hate when you can love, after all?
There are a few things I love in the game. I love the satisfaction when an alt dings to 60, 70, or 80. There's always great new skills to be learned and new challenges to face. Nothing is more addicting to an MMO addict than reaching those benchmarks.
I love the feeling at the end of the raid when you've downed an impossible boss, giving everything you and 24 other people had to make it happen. My buddy Jacob and I have often reminisced that we haven't had that feeling for a long time – not really since Kael'Thas, Illidan, or any of the Sunwell bosses -- but it was so damn good when it did happen that I'll take those memories with me into the next decade of game playing.
Along those same lines, the arena battle where you end with just a few dozen points of health left and everyone else lies dead before your might – that's epic. I love that. The exhilaration, the sheer skill and determination to stay alive in a virtual world propels such legendary wins.
So I have a challenge for you today, dearest WoW.com readers, let's love more than hate. I'm sure there's more than 248 things you all love about WoW -- show the world that all you need is love.
And to sweeten the deal, I'll select 5 people whose responses I like the best and email them a TCG loot code, to be selected at random from a stack of codes that include Slashdance, Papa Hummel's Old-Fashioned Pet Biscuit, and a few others. Get your answers in before 11:59 p.m. EDT tonight (September 14th), which is when I'll select the winners and send them their codes.
So tell me, what do you love?

I love going back to old content and helping random lower levels out because no one ever did that for me...and i want to spread the LOVE!

I love going to starting areas and giving toons 5g just to help out a little. Someone did it to me when I rolled a pally, so if I'm in the area I like to pay it forward. ; )

I know it sounds horrible but unlike you I love going to a low level zone of the opposite faction and kill there flight master, always makes me smile

I love the feeling of getting to that titanium node at the same time as another person, but that OTHER person was the one who pulled the skeleton standing next to it. Free of aggro, I pluck the titanium up and go!

I love the killing of allies in WG, and collect the gold of them each time

I love the smell of roasted hordes in the morning

It smells like victory!

I love, and will never forget, the satisfying swish-gurgle made when I would one-shot ambush undead priests in AV long before resilience was even a twinkle in Blizzards eye and 10 thousand hit points was superman.

I love going into new raids/content and working on getting new bosses down. The joy of hearing 25 nerds all scream on vent at once will never get old; even if they do manage to break your ears and headset.

I love Death Gripping critters. It never gets old.

Death Grip and Army of Dead two epic spells that entertain me everytime!

I love Death Gripping anything that is huge. Ice Giants, Hydras in Mauradon, the bigger the better. There is something gratifying in seeing a huge creature become really stiff and flying through the air.

I was surprised to see that other people love this too. This is my favorite thing, and the reason I prefer Death Knights. Less aggroing of mobs in crowded areas too when you pull them to you.

One of my earliest memories that I still love is when my low level hunter made her way from Darkshore to the Wetlands. There, I was lead by a slightly higher level friend (funny, at the time there were no level 60s on the server, so I use the term high level loosely) to the gates of Ironforge. There wasn't much that had a more epic feel than to see yourself progressing from marshlands, to mountain passes and later right up to the towering gates of Ironforge.

Totally agree! Getting my lvl16 druid to Westfall from Darkshore was the best hour I spent in wow. My current boyfriend was a huge fan, and told me to try out wow. I made a druid (when he mentioned this is the only shapeshifting class i knew what to choose), played for about 5 lvls and abandoned it. He leveled it to 15 and told me I have a quest to do, and went to work.
I was home alone, and called him up to tell me where this 'Westfall' is and how I get there. He told me to take the boat, start walking the long road along the marsh, cross under the mountain, go to Ironforge, take the tram, etc.
I took about 20 screenshots on that way :) Like a real tourist. Reaching the gates of Ironforge (still my favorite screenshot), being amazed by the underwater sightseeing of the tram, arriving to the smoky dwarven district of Stormwind, finding the light-filled citadel and the buzzing Trade District was awesome. I have never seen these places before, and didnt realize how big this world is, and how many other players are in it (Darnassus is always pretty abandoned). Finally, finding that object underwater for the quest was SOOOOO EPIC.
This was about 3 years ago, but I am an addict since that :)

I remember that run. I was a level 18 Nelf warrior. Taking the boat to Wetlands. Following the level 60, seeing mobs you had never seen before... crocolisks, raptors, seeing orcs and dwarves and human lands... seeing how amazing ironforge was compared to Darnassus, taking the tram to Stormwind and seeing something other than forest.
It gave you the awe of seeing how big the game actually was.
Of course its old now and that original thrill is gone. But at the time it was a thrilling thing

This, exactly. That grand sense of exploration was the single most impressive thing about this game world, and it was the one thing I didn't believe they could ever recreate. No matter how many alts I roll, the sense of wonder is never quite there the same way it was back then.
That's why I'm so excited about Cataclysm. They've found a way to restore that sense of wonder for both of the original continents in a way I never would have believed possible. I'm more excited for this expansion than I was for either BC or WotLK. It's going to be a whole new game world, and I can't wait to explore it all over again.

I love opening a trade window with gold beggers, putting in a LOAD of gold and then 'forgetting' to press trade =D
Hendrata Sep 14th 2009 11:30AM
just be careful that you don't accidentally press it....
Tinny Sep 14th 2009 8:16AM
I loved finishing the last quest in darkshore and knowing I would never need to run for miles there again!
