WoW Moviewatch: Emergency Kindergarten - Lesson 1, Shapes and Colors
I want to be careful about how many videos we feature which parody or highlight other players in negative ways. However, Emergency Kindergarten - Lesson 1, Shapes and Colors was obviously created by Fyreuni with such skill, and obvious affection for its audience, that I couldn't help but feature it today. I don't think the video was mean-spirited or deprecating. It was instead very much grounded in a sense of fun.
As the story goes, one of Fyreuni's raid members has been a little challenged with hitting the right raid mark. (Oh, come on -- which of us hasn't been there at least once?) So, she created this wonderful little video to help her friend out. The next one promises to help out with not-breaking-sheep.
I thought the Blood Elf teacher was absolutely adorable. The animated raid drawings were perfect, and unmistakeably the ones used from WoW. Fyreuni did a great job, and I hope she branches out to other avenues of WoW animation.

That was definitely different from the usual movies we see during the week.
I will give her props though. That took skill to draw and animate the blood elf and the rest of the classroom. Different but unique in it's own way.
Oh and for everyone posting below me. Try to keep the "worst movie ever" comments to yourself.

No wonder why you had to make a cartoon to explain... URDOINITRONG!
Skull then X... universal fact!

This reminds me of my olde guild leader from Pre-BC, who always used to say stuff like "Okay guys, hit the blue diamond"
We mailed him an actual kids' Shapes & Colors dvd :P

Perhaps he was color blind? There's a lot of color-blind guys running around in WoW, apparently.

Future lessons should include:
"Hugging the Wall"
and
"Staying out of the Fire"

As someone who both loves animation and World of Warcraft, I believe the only appropriate response to this movie is this:
MOAR.

Wait what who uses star as their first DPS target?
DPS Skull :S

I think the opening comment says that skull, X and the others were "too complex" for some people (in kindergarden, of course), hence why she resorts to adopting the primary shapes/colors.
I agree with others, this is PURE WIN!
Moar lessons please (looking forward to: do not stand in stuff--fire, void zones, poison, etc)

I know, I was like, "Star first? WTF?" For my guild, and most pugs, skull, X, then usually square back in the days when square meant Hunter trap, moon meant sheep, and star or anything else meant sap.
Now to Michael, the video was spot on. You have to be able to laugh at yourself when you miss a raid mark and the video made light of it in a humorous way. Even the name, "Emerdency Kindergarten," is funny.

Some guilds may have adopted a different symbol order simply because of add-ons like DBM co-opting the skull/X/etc for other functions.

"BURN THE SKULL!! err...i mean star?"
Matt Sep 14th 2009 3:07PM
My guild DPSes Star first, because it is the first shape on the list. Star Circle Diamond Triangle Moon. Last two were for sheeps.
Suba Sep 14th 2009 6:49PM
No, no, no....
Square for Ice trap, sure enough, but Moon was sap (cuz it's sleepy time!)
Star was sheep... cuz it's magical... like stars... are.... magical....?
Diamond was for seduce (for obvious reasons).
Now, skull is first kill, and everything else is being aoe'd. Do mages even keep Poly on their bars anymore?
