Pandaren Monk pet has moves
MMO Champion has datamined up some video of the new Pandaren Monk vanity pet that's been floating around, and as you can see above, it's pretty darned awesome. Just like the Grunty the Murloc pet, this one comes with some fun animations, and they look terrific. Blizzard has been pretty coy about getting the Pandaren into the game, and they're teasing big here, too -- this little bear's got moves that would make the Diablo III Monk hang his head in shame.
However, the question remains: how do we get it? At this point, it's just speculation and rumor -- some say it might be a special anniversary pet for people who've been subscribed all five years of the game's life, some suggest it might be part of the Cataclysm collector's edition (past CEs have had a pet in each one, including a Diablo figure in the first box), and still others suggest that the Monk will be a new pet in the upcoming Brewfest holiday. How do we get it, really? We won't know for sure until we hear it from Blizz.

Kung-Fu Panda(eran) FTW. That pet is going to rule.
Drakkenfyre Sep 15th 2009 9:21AM
I doubt very seriously that it would be for the Chinese relaunch, as the fact that the Pandarens are a Panda (Chinese symbol) dressed in Japanese garb (at one time), would not go over good.
Moonkinmaniac Sep 15th 2009 11:46AM
Actually in many Chinese games pandas are mounts and vanity items. They just have a problem with bones for some reason, most zombies in Chinese games are just dudes with white face paint. Rofl.
Drakkenfyre Sep 15th 2009 11:58AM
It isn't that they are Pandas, it's that they are dressed in Japanese clothes.

I know I'll never be able get one.
Something that awesome will only be available to people who buy crap loads of cards from the TCG or be able to get IC on farm first week it comes out.

Its going to be a reward from Brewmaster Achievement, if you look at the achievement icon you will see http://www.wowhead.com/?achievement=1684
Moy Sep 15th 2009 9:26AM
That icon's been changed half a dozen times, and again if it is gonna be for brewfest it won't make it to live servers before this years brewfest simple as
tgrhwke Sep 15th 2009 9:28AM
That will cool if it does come out as a pet. Another thing that would be cool is when two or more Pandaren are brought together, that they spar each other.

Where are these frames taken? I can't recall ever seeing a background like that...
jealouspirate Sep 15th 2009 9:32AM
I could be mistaken, but I believe that it's the Green Dragonshrine in Dragonblight.
Birdfall Sep 15th 2009 9:41AM
It is indeed.

Now that we have the pet in the game, are we one step closer to the Pandarians becoming a playable race, or does this confirm that they will never be a playable race?
DeathPaladin Sep 15th 2009 9:47AM
It is as much an indication that Pandaren will become a playable race as the existance of Murky and Grunty are an indication that Murlocs will become a playable race.
i.e. If it happens, it will be when Blizzard feels like it.
Trent Sep 15th 2009 9:50AM
It's nothing more than a nod to the untold requests from players for Pandarens as a playable race and Monks as a playable class. I doubt it has any other relevance than being a damn cool pet. Though this will be special in the sense that it will be the first time we'll be seeing a Pandaren in any form in WoW since it's release. Not even a single damn NPC. It has been Blizzard's cruel joke on players for 6 years, and this pet will only stoke the desire even more. Heartless bastards they are.
Birdfall Sep 15th 2009 9:39AM
That is adorable. :)

I MUST have one of these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jack Kelly Sep 15th 2009 9:55AM
Trading card game pets have never been BOA. Same for achievement pets. My guess is China relaunch, anniversary, or CE in that order.

I will do whatever is necessary to get this pet. ...as long as it doesn't cost me my job or something like that. *grin* But seriously, can't wait to see how we get this. Would make an excellent companion for my draenei paladin.
Mayorga Sep 15th 2009 10:15AM
Dude...that is sick. I must have one as a bodyguard :P
