They don't happen often, but when they happen, you remember them forever. My wife successfully taming Loque'nahk. The
forging of my Quel'Serrar. Our first complete clear of Ahn'Qiraj. Even just sitting on my mount as the sun rose on Menethil Island and realizing I'd spent nearly an entire night with my then-girlfriend chatting in-between bouts of killing various and sundry things. Those little moments that make up the memories that keep people playing. One of the ones I've enjoyed the most in game, oddly enough, is a
small set of
linked quests available in the Dragonblight where you end up doing the same quest effectively twice, once as a mid 70's character getting help from your future self, and again as your level 80 incarnation going back in time to provide that help. I don't know exactly why but it's one of my favorite aspects of the game and one I've made sure to do over and over again.
Of course, they're not all good. One of my good in game friends delights in telling the story of the night my wife was patiently waiting for
Lupos, a rare spawn worg from Duskwood, as she wished to tame said beastie for a pet. Lo and behold, as soon as she took a break for her biological means I linked
a green drop in guild. As you can imagine, going on four years later I still hear about this from her when tempers are short. I've often wished
Chromie would let me go back and stop that one, but so far no dice.
So now dear readers I ask you for your moments, be they great, terrible, or greatly terrible (or terribly great, even).

Sigh....all those wasted hours waiting for the Time Lost Proto Drake. What was I thinking?!
MightyMuffin Sep 16th 2009 10:38AM
I actually got mine back in 3.1 when the goblin dailies were still there. It was by random chance that I decided to press the /target macro I had made for those long hours of roaming around frosthold looking for the beast. Of course, now I play on a different server with a different character...wish we could move said mounts around or share them with our alts.
(if this appears twice, I'm sorry. I didn't put in my full e-mail, so it said i was a new user. Hopefully it won't become an issue XD)

@Vil:
Exactly.
It's a "Time Lost" proto drake.

back in TBC days, a few friends and I were leveling in hellfire. we were on our way to do Fel Spirits quest when Fel Reaver attack us. we were pretty certain we were going to die, but then a 70 human pally came and took aggro. if that wasn't grand enough, about 10 lvl 60 horde came to help us! they could have easily taken us all out, but instead they decided to take down then monstrosity that is Fel Reaver. its moments when the horde and alliance help each other out that make me keep playing (:

My moment was back when I first started playing and wanted a rare/unique looking pet for my hunter. I researched what was out there, waited two days, and finally tamed Humar the black lion. That one will always be my prize, even tho there is another much more common one with the same skin in Scholozar now.
Luci Sep 16th 2009 9:10AM
I agree, this was an awesome moment. As soon as I hit 23 on my tauren hunter, I went for Humar. Accidentally fell asleep early one night, and then I was up late the rest of the night. Popped in a movie, turned my computer monitor toward the couch, and camped out from 2 am to 8 am. Overcome with heavy eyelids, I got up to log out and give up and he spawned!!!! On my next hunter, my fiance had run me through WC to tame a snake, and decided to swing by the big tree to see if he was there and he was, so I got him easily the second time lol. Ha, I was mountless and running from WC to the tree was the longest run ever. I was yelling across the house, "No one's coming are they?!!!!"

Heart wrenching it is to have both of my best friends get the Green Proto Drake before me, then get ANOTHER one while I choke on aged yolk... heh, bastards! Sad to see him destroy it...
Kyle Sep 16th 2009 4:52PM
I actually have a friend who has THREE green proto drakes. He says he's sitting on the extra two hoping the BoP limitation is removed, so he can auction them off to other, less fortunate adventurers.
scarab2501 Sep 16th 2009 8:49PM
Tell him I hate him 3x more than my buddy. LOL I wonder why the game even allows for people to get multiple drops of it. I seriously doubt they'll remove the BOP though. That would make the rep grind pretty much useless. I have 17 hours left on my egg now, THIS time that drake will be mine! Oh yes, it will be mine!

Something that happened recently will probably stay with me for some time just because of how funny it was. I was leveling my at the time 56 Ret Pally in Eastern Plaguelands when a 58 horde dk fresh out of the starting zone comes over and tries to get me to tag myself. He was already tagged and kept trying to get in my way so I'd accidentally attack him and as he saw it get killed be the leetness that is dk facerolling. I eventually did find myself tagged and under attack yet thanks to having played pallies a good dead more than he has ever played a dk I killed him rather decisively. Four more times he rezzed and came back after me, four more times he walked back from the graveyard. After the fifth death I suppose he just waited for the pvp flag to timeout and go about his life. Never have I laughed so hard at someone else's fail. I'm sure he heard that dk's were overpowered and couldn't figure out how a paladin two levels lower was beating the crap out of him. Unless you believe the hype that paladins are OP.

Ah, the joys of playing a pally. I was so thrilled when I made it to level 53, and happened to be going through Ashenvale when a level 56 belf pally decided to raid the place. As usual, it took the 80s a while to show up (probably in WG or something), so I decided to take care of the problem myself. Three times I put him down, and three times he put me down. It was a pretty epic battle.
The funny part was that he was ret, and I was holy... And not wearing anything special, gear-wise.
When I hit 56, I stomped across a couple of fresh DKs as well. Ah, the glory days of the WotLK shockadin. Not quite as effective now that I've hit 80...

My brothers & I were all in college when we started WoW about 4 and a half years ago. We're well-geared raid officers in our guild now, but some of my fondest memories are those earliest dungeons when we were totally clueless. Gnomer and Uldaman will always be two of my favorite dungeons, just for that reason. I love the fact that I'm still playing new content with those same friends.

Early in levelling, my friends and I were in Ashenvale when some human mage with a skull instead of his level indicator showed up out of nowhere and ganked us. We knew it was a PVP server, but this was our first experience with what that really meant. We tried to rez and continue killing furbolgs or whatever, but he stuck around and killed us again!
I switched TeamSpeak channels and called in help from another friend, the one who'd pulled us all into this game (working on levelling his warrior, then at l55). He dropped what he was doing and came over, told us to wait to rez until he said so.
He managed to get the drop on the l60 mage, zooming in from behind some trees, and yelled "Now, while he's busy! Hit him with something and then run like hell!"
I doubt our feeble attempts at DOTs helped much, but the mage dropped and our warrior friend came running after us. As I healed him up, he was excited that he'd managed to take the jerk out but told us to leave the area for a while; the mage would be out for revenge.
Not a very epic story, but it was a fun bit of teamwork and really brought home the idea that yes, we could get ganked anywhere - but we could also call in help from across the world.

Whoever won that "I love" Breakfast Topic a few days ago? There were a lot of good responses.
Matthew Rossi Sep 16th 2009 8:26AM
I was the "I hate" guy. You want Holisky, we call him Doctor Love.
JKWood Sep 16th 2009 9:45AM
So do we call you "Dr. Teeth"?
Matthew Rossi Sep 16th 2009 9:47AM

Or you can call me Maurice. You know, cause I speak of the pompatus of love.
